It not getting a connection to the server. Call Customer Services (after you have checked everything is plugged in and your phone line is fine).

I've had this problem several times. On each occasion the solution has been a new desktop box. The engineer told me that many of them were built to a substandard design.

well tiscali guy came out said it was the box so he changed it to one of them that you can record at first glance i thought it was a old box as there was no buttons on the front at all but then notice record on the remote. so he turned it on and the same thing happened so he checked all the cables and could not work out why it was not working so he called tiscali after about 20 mins they phoned back to say some a someone at there end had turned me off so i spoke to the guy who was ok i had to tell him what package i was on so he said it will be tues or wednesday before im switch on .. is it not like sky were they can switch you on with minutes..

Well it doesn't surprise me.. whenever I had a fault with the service it took Tiscali ages to sort it.... I would tell them you have so far not had service for 8 days.. therefor one quarter of you're monthly subscription should be deducted (and of course the longer this goes on the more you refuse to pay)

If I remember rightly, I think this was information my box asked for when the Tiscali engineer installed it.

Hope you get sorted soon

I have recently had as frustrating an experience.

On 13th January my broadband connection went down and I lost tv and was of course unable to connect to the net.

This continued for 11 days and what frustrates me is the whole system seems to be designed not to be helpful to the consumer. You ring customer support whose first objective seems to be to fob you off for five days in the hope the problem goes away and whenever you ring again they keep saying it has been referred to a higher authority and someone will ring you back. They never do.

I don't blame Tiscali's individual employees but rather the ethos of a company where it seems existing customers are a nuisance rather than valued clients. I did try to ring their registered office to express my concdern at the really poor level of service and you've guessed it the telephone number is the 0871 expensive customer services line.

Perhaps we can all draw our own conclusions about a company that makes it impossible to contact senior management to register justifiable complaints.

I have to say I agree. I have listed the problems I have had in other threads, but basically I have been overcharged every month for 6 months. It's been for different things, but the latest is I am being charged for the variety pack and entertainment mix (correct) but also £10.00 for the TV big pack, which is an old package the same as entertainment mix. It's always the same, the person I speak to agree's and that it has to be 'escalated', then nothing happens. I ring back and no one knows whats going on, so I go through the whole thing again. Meanwhile my phone bill has between £5.00 - £10.00 of calls to Tiscali customer service. It's really unfair when it's not my fault. I am beginning to believe the 'Escalation Dept' is a bin under their desk.
