The 80s thread!
I've been playing this song - Somewhere in my heart - over and over - don't you just think this song is one of the best? It's from a fantastic decade (for music anyway).
Can you lot fill up this thread with any other links to classic 80s hits that may have become iconic or a little forgotten? |

I think there's no harm in having a more general thread as well with more well known as well as forgotten hits.
![]() Could we say that people should post the name of the artist for each track so the thread is mnore easily searchable though? The other thread got pretty difficult to navigate in the end.. This is one of my favourites: Captain Sensible http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7bobUGEliic |

A few pretty obscure singles from Amy Grant that came out in the mid 80's well before she was well known over here.

Danny Wilson - always get confused with Williams, but it was Danny Wilson.
A friend of mine was very fond of that record along with "Black Man Ray" by China Crisis the early 80s was my singles-buying period. Cindy Lauper "Time After Time" was one of my favourites. |

Life In A Northern Town by The Dream Academy and Since Yesterday by Strawberry Switchblade were two of the best singles I bought in the 80s. Still love 'em.

![]() That "Strawberry Switchblade" one was good - from there the next place ought to be Everything But the Girl or All About Eve's "Martha's Harbour". |

So many hundreds of great songs during the 1980s ... I was born just too late to appreciate them at the time. I'm making up for it now though!
Just a few of my random recommendations...

Seven Wonders (Fleetwood Mac)
Only You (Yazoo)
Money For Nothing (Dire Straits)
Total Eclipse of the Heart (Bonnie Tyler)
You Ain't So Tough (Heart)
I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me (Nik Kershaw)
Live It Up (Mental As Anything) ~ I spotted that one earlier in the thread
Drop the Pilot (Joan Armatrading)
Money Changes Everything (Cyndi Lauper)
Smalltown Boy (Bronski Beat)
Just Can't Get Enough (Depeche Mode)
That'll do for starters... Hope some of those bring back some good memories!
