Does What I Want Exist?
Hi All,
I see no point in buying a DVD player and a media player and a network hard drive. What I want is a DVD player that has a network port and can connect to a hard disk, and which will allow me to copy files across the network to the hard drive. The Kiss 1600 is close, but it won't write to the hard drive, it can only use the network port to stream from another file server. I should also like the DVD player to have a usb port and memory card readers. Ideally, the dvd player should also play one or both hi-def formats. OK, I realise that I'm getting further into cloud cuckoo land here, but how close can I get? I also considered a dvd player with a usb port, which can connect to a nas device, but all the nas devices that I've seen, will not allow usb and network concurrently. The other option is a dvd player with a network port which can stream from a nas device. Again, hi-def would be nice as well (here I go again

Haven't tried it but my archos 605 wifi will access media from my pc's hard drive - this is what you need isn't it?
You will need a DVR station to watch it on your tv though (you don't need an extra scart with an archos as you just bridge it between two existing scart connected devices). does this help? |

you could build/buy a media center htpc. it will do all that you want and more. You can add a bluray drive to it and you have exactly what your looking for. There are htpc cases that are quite close to looking like dvd players as well so you wont have a big tower in the living room.
