Why is Nush unpopular ?

Just looking through the "Who's your fav?" thread, and Nush is languishing in sixth.

She has been second in the last two eviction votes behind Ray and Steph.

Compared to Cam, Steph , Lisa and Ray, she seems to be a fairly pleasant person, and is not a dull as Scott who seems to be the favorite right now.

Right now I think she is the best of a bad bunch, so I'm wondering why she is so unpopular. What has she done wrong ?

Lookk its a whole combination of things, her voice, her clinging her whole demeanour, it sucks, agree about the Invisble Man though, where does Scott go half the time.

I'm guessing it's her lack of physical threat. Most of the votes for Ray, Cameron and Lisa are from people scared of painful reprisals. All Nush can do is threaten you with lying in your back garden and giggling at you; potentially irritating, but unlikely to be fatal.

Actually my impression of Nush have kind of changed. Well at least she isn't gettign herself involved in all the bitching and nastyness

I think she's a nice girl, whose heart is in the right place.

She doesn't seem to have any malice in her at all, and she does actually express emotions, something lacking in most of her fellow HM's.
She has been easily the most tolerant HM, taking an interest in Jon, being friendly to Gaetano (when most other HM's didn't bother), and has been the least hostile towards Lisa. She doesn't hate anyone, she just wants to be liked. Don't we all.

Nush's giggling is habit caused by her insecurity, which has been her biggest problem. She needs to be liked by others in order to feel confident in herself (I can't understand how she can be described as a narcissist; people who love themselves don't give a fig about being liked by other people).
It's a pity her sweet smile has been eclipsed by her giggle.

Brian and Helen were every bit as insecure as Nush (arguably more so), with Brian famously going mental when Josh entered the BB House. Did this make Brian a bad person? No.
So why is Nush's insecurity not viewed in the sympathetic way Brian's and Helen's was?

It's ironic that Scott tops the poll, as the most (the only) interesting thing about Scott is his relationship with Nush.

Nush's biggest problem is the people around her. She is an emotional person surrounded by automotons.

From today's live updates: Ray told Scott to clean all the mirrors. When he finished, he asked if he should polish Ray's head as well. Is this the first quotable remark from Scott in six weeks?

I think the problem with Nush is that she is not perceived as being totally honest and upright, that she is rather manipulative and underhanded and somewhat of a weak character, a reed in the wind if you like. She isn't taking part in much of the bitching, no, but neither is she actively doing anything to address it. Her mute acquiescence to the majority opinion through withdrawal or non-comment is seen as rather pathetic.

She's also rather flirty with the boys, but not in the full-on, juicy Lucy manner of Mel in BB1, but in a pusillanimous, bloodless, nice-girl way that, frankly, is extremely irritating.

That's why I dislike her anyway.

Sad but true.

I pretty much agree with most of what you say (not sure about her taking an interest in Jon ).

She seems to attract a lot of negative votes both inside and outside the house. I'm not saying that there aren't good reasons for that but relatively speaking, I would be more likely to be moved to phone to evict Ray or Steph, yet Nush got significantly more votes.

I'm not saying she should win (I don't think any of them should!), but I don't think she is that bad.

Nush is not a Leader, only the "Leader" of the group can resolve a bust-up like this. Cameron and Ray fancy themselves as Alpha Males, and I seem to recall it's Alpha Males who are supposed to make the sacrifices; comes with the job.

She probably doesn't believe she could make any difference to the situation anyhow, and belief is 90% of doing things.

Kate built up the hopes of this years Female Hm's, no doubt they thought that Miss Lawler had opened the door.
Kate wasn't a juicy Lucy, besides, most BB viewers are Female, and thus any female HM who behaves in a remotely sexual manner wll be punished severely. Why do you think that Anna, Helen, and Kate are the only Female HM's to ever survive when nominated against their male rivals? Surely the balance should be equal, according to the Feminists?
That's why Steph "not sexual" has escaped the vengeance of the "teenage texting girls".

Nush has been added to that list now too. I think at the beginning of the show Nush was very popular, but it began to decrease because she seemed manipulative. However now that Steph is showing her true colours I think that it may revert back to Nush being the top girl.

I must admit that I am still mystified by Steph's inclusion in the house, but as you rightly point out, she is the sort of woman who is least likely to alienate the teenie texters.

Of all the women that have ever been in the house, I would say that Anna has been the most impressive. Shame they haven't found a few more like her.

I like Nush... I don't think there's any malice there, and she's very sweet... I wouldn't like to see her win though (unless I put a bet on her)... She needs to grow into a gutsier person, who isn't so easily led. She's got more potential than the others, but not a winner imo... put it that way.

blimey, what a naive bunch we have on here I would have thought we have all come across a'Nush'in our time:she was the one who never had any money,(but did if you know what I mean). The one who knew about everyone else's gossip, but never gave anything away about herself(I mean the'real'self not the image). She is the girl at school from the broken home who sleeps with the trendy guys to get street cred, she is the girl who longs for the steady bloke type to replace the daddy she lost, except she always ends up with the opposite(and she doesn't understand why.......doh).She is the one who would rather risk her life hitching a lift from strangers cos she has spent the money she scrounged and can't afford the trip home(classy bird with the big self respect................not).

Back in my school days I had the misfortune of knowing(even dated)a 'Nush' and generally speaking I found them false,shallow,manipulative,nasty,unhinged,uncaring,self-centered users.Complete trash.

Sounds like the archetypal BB contestant

I must admit, I don't really generalise people as Nushes, Jons or, heaven help us, Justines. Everyone is an individual and we all have our faults. Nush is an attractive girl and sometimes uses that to her advantage, but oddly enough not as much as I would expect.

Nush is hardly manipulative, and if she is, she is incredibly poor at it since she has been nominated twice. I wouldn't say she was nasty, unhinged, uncaring, self-centred or false. But that's just my naive opinion, having met such a small cross-section of society in my life living in numerous towns and cities throughout Europe.

Seems like you had a very bad date in your schooldays.

Actually, I think the group is rather leaderless at the moment, despite Ray having that title conferred on him by the task. If the others deferred to anyone in that house, it was Gos, and with him gone, the position of 'daddy' is vacant, with neither Scott, Ray nor Cameron having the wherewithal to fill the post. Scott is pretty much a cypher; Ray is seen as somewhat of an errant child and Cameron is one of the girls, as far as I can ascertain.

So, a strong female character could well take the reins. Unlikely to be Steph now, as she has shot her bolt with the bitchery; Lisa is the outcast so it won't be her. Nush has a real chance to position herself favourably in the group, and confronting them about their behaviour might well be the way to assert her authority. But I reckon she's too feeble to take it.

This obsession nush has with money has not really been picked up on. The alleged screwdriver row reported in the tabloids was over money. Her justification for many things is money and it comes into a lot of her conversation.

In 10 minutes in the bar a while ago, she mentioned: eating the snacks because they were free, how expensive various drinks are, how she preferred working in a busy bar (Scott and Steph favoured quiet) because of the bigger tips, how funny it was to 'live' in a pub where the beer was free...

Boring stuff but it does show us how her mind works.
gazza71

She's travelled on very little though, so making money would have been of more importance to her. She's also mentioned many a time, that she's never asked for any money from her parents.

There's a lot of stuff I'd debate on with her for sure... But she's got a gob on her that runs wild on experiences sometimes, and it's preferable to boring Steph and her "but everybodys different...Scott... Ray... Scott... each to their oooooon"
