iPod Touch January Upgrade doesn't work ?
ZListersMustDie

I have followed all the instruction, made sure all my software is up to date, rebooted numerous times, but it still refuses to load
The error message states that "an unknown error has occurred -50"

Any ideas anyone ???

Was/is your device jailbroken?

Mine won't work either, I've tried dozens of times,
There was some talk on another forum about them having suspended the downloads as they may be freeloading any day.

Before you can install the (paid for) update you need to do two other things:

Via ITunes update the iPod software to 1.1.3
Update iTunes to 7.6

I have both these but still getting nowhere. Tonight I get a different message. When I plug my ipod in and the "download upgrade "appears the ptice £12.99 is crossed out in red and the message Itunes is unable to something or other appears.
The message is getting very annoying - anyone know how to get rid of it?

I managed to get my update for free, When it was released I paid for it twice, both times failed, emailed support, they said they refunded the second purchase, but they refunded both purchases, however I still have 1.1.3 with all the Maps, Notes etc

I'm really pissed off with Apple about this upgrade

I've downloaded the software - iTunes 7.6 iPod Touch 1.1.3
I've reset, rebooted and reloaded

and STILL I can't get the f**king thing to work

I reported it as a problem and they send me back a standard message telling me to reset, reboot and reload

I'm going to ask for a refund I think

Have you tried this:

I believe there is a way to check if the file has been downloaded or not. According to your account history, it seems that the file was downloaded.

iTunes downloads a receipt file to your computer, which is what is used to authenticate your account and activate the features on your iPod touch.

These are the folders they're found in

* Windows XP: \Document and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications

is it there?
