Ordered a digihome dtr80 from e-bay.They sent me a pvr 80 with 5.3 firmware.Phoned them up and I am getting hassle from them as they said pvr80 at the top but gave the dtr picture and link of the dtr80 on argos.I tried the machine and for the first few minutes it works okay then it breaks up all the time.Anyone have any ideas how to fix it because I may be stuck with it.It was a present for my sister.Do not know anything about these pvr,s as I have two digifusions.Any help much appreciated.

Yeah, this is an old T810 type single record model, which was superceded by the T816, and now the T825. You do have the latest firmware though. Do you have a good enough signal? If you go to the config menu and select manual channel scan, you'll get a signal meter which should give you some idea.

I've been using an 810 with 5.3 firmware for about a year without any real problems although I'm in a poor reception area. Can you advise more details of your problems with it?

Having just now checked eBay, presumably you bought it from the onlinesalesdirect seller? The product description there is indeed for the the DTR80 (T816), and not the PVR80 (T810), and therefore completely wrong (i.e. your PVR is not Freeview Playback compliant, cannot record 2 channels at once, etc). Argos haven't been selling the PVR80 since August last year. If you paid £70 for this, then I hate to say it, but that's a rip-off. Asda, for example, have recently been selling their T816 clone for £70 in-store (presumably to make way for the new T825 model). Clearly, this seller has bought Argos' old stock, or worse, returned/faulty units.

Anyway, given that you were sent a product different to what the seller described on eBay, you will hopefully have a good chance of getting a full refund from the seller, especially if the PVR turns out to be faulty (i.e. your aerial signal is good enough).

Yes I did buy it freom onlinesales. They will not pay the postage for a return and I told them the picture and link was misleading. It says that records two channels at once and series link as well.I have managed to get it to work by doing a rescan of channels.I told them I will leave it up to e-bay to decide and left them very bad feedback which they did not like.It will not appear until ten days has passed from date of purchase.Hopefully anyone who reads this will realise that this company is selling a pvr80 while misleading people thinking they are getting the new model dtr80.

Will this machine take the new firmware that will allow two channels to record at the same time.

It will, yes, although "new" is perhaps the wrong word (since it was made around the same time as the v5.3 single record software). Not sure if it's still online, but it was the unofficial v1.0 twin record software which might still be available online somewhere. There are problems with it such as interactivity not working and the EPG will not update well at all (although, the same could be said of the v5.3 software in the later days).

Newer T816 software is not compatible with the T810.

If this is the downloaded f/w

vestel_echo_7day_epg_banka.bin

I have it in my download folder, and can upload it if needed.

That'll be for an old Goodmans GDB3, I think - not for Vestel PVRs.

Just discovered that, but have found them here, in one of your old posts.

They do exist, as I've downloaded them again, just in case.

I also ordered one of these from onlinesalesdirect, unfortunately before I read this thread. I am expecting it to arrive tomorrow but in the meantime I emailed them querying the fact that they state in their description that it is a twin record PVR..

Have just had this email from them....

Hello, PVR80 is the one we sell which you can record 2 channels at the same time. Hope this helps.

Regards
OSD

Will be interesting to see if that is the case but I doubt it

Have just cancelled my order with OSD, they had put my order on hold due to my email reply to them and asked me to ring them. No problem just rang them and they agreed to refund my money, no argument.

Just waiting for the refund now....
