Bullying & bitching?

I keep reading other forum members comments about all the bullying and bitching that’s been going on this year and I’m wondering if we’ve all been watching the same program.

What bullying has there been? Remember Jade / Adele / Alex’s behaviour towards Sophie last year? Nothing like that has gone on this time around. Sure, there’s been a bit of mild bitching but it’s been done in a fairly innocuous manner and some of it has actually been quite funny. Steph’s comment about Lisa liking her tea despite never having tasted it and her fear that Lisa’s going to kill her in the middle of the night have been two of the more entertaining moments of the series so far.

I actually think they’ve been quite restrained in their comments about Lisa. I’d quite possibly have killed her by now - she’s definitely one of the least appealing hm’s we’ve ever had to endure. As for Jon, the only time anyone really bitched about him was over his controlling behaviour during the bell ringing task, and, let’s face it, he deserved all the stick that he took for it. Most of the time they just seemed bemused by him – and rightly so as he’s obviously a bit of a character.

None of the bitching has been vicious or vindictive and it’s certainly been no worse than the majority of us participate in on a semi regular basis in our own lives. So come on people, stop being so overly sensitive and hypocritical. The hm’s are finally showing some signs of life. Don’t berate them for it.

Zackly what I've been trying to say over the past few days on some of the Anti-Cam threads.
Some people seem to think that bitching never happens in real life, or is only done be truly evil people. We've been WAITING for some bitching/fighting in the house let's face it - it's been pretty dull without it! At last we have something that has us talking and watching...but some people are never happy

I think that some fm's are moaning about the bitching and bullying becasue they have their own agendas, they need to prove a point or they just like lighting the blue touch paper and watching it flare.

Personally, I agree totally with you. I consider myself to be a fair minded person and like to view both sides of an arguement. As much as I would like everyone to treat others in the same way, it certainly doesn't happen on this forum. I like this forum, but I do despair when most attempts at anything vaguely intellectual and stimulating gets ignored or worse, ridiculed. And inane and puerile posts attract the most attention.

The reason people hate Cameron is because he parades his so-called Christianity and apparent naive island existence in front of the camera, then goes off and says "I'd like to piss in [Jon's] shower gel and shit in his shoes" and "I could take somebody like [Jon] by the throat and smash their face right to the back of their head ". This and the windpipe comment he made a few days ago.

Actually there was more than just during the bell task. Anouska was bitching about him before the first week was finished. Justine was bitching about him all through the second week. Steph, Cameron, Nush and Gos were all bitching about him the night they finished the Superhero task.

Cameron, Scott, Gos and Ray also bitched about Tania the night she was evicted.

Brilliant and perceptive analysis, Trada.

Why don't you post more often?

Jafa, be forewarned that an opinion that differs from the general ethos of this forum is also met with derisory reproach...

I myself was castigated and slammed in a similar way en masse I add, for just sticking my neck above the parapet.

...and of course, ridiculed with ignominy.

It was very funny and kept me amused for days. I'm looking forward to my next vilification already.

Well said. Even the BB website comments on how the two other women and Cam are constantly sniping about Lisa behind her back and Cam seems to be the main instigator.

True, but even Sophie had friends. This time there have been two instances of people who've found themselves totally isolated in the house. It happened with Jon, although perhaps he had Fed somewhat and it's now happened with Lisa. The main time it happened for Jon was after he confronted Ray on his pranks, by the way, not over the bell ringing.

This has led to long, four to five hour bitching sessions by large groups, specifically about one person. That's the difference this time - it's a single group having long discussions about the outsider. Doesn't that suggest something more than different cliques bitching about each other as it has been in the past?

Whatever that one outsider has done, it's never been enough to excuse the actions of the rest of the group and how you can say it's not been vindictive or nasty I don't know. Hours of bitching about a single person just becomes uncomfortable after a while.

I have been reminded of Lord of the Flies this year a lot more than at any time in the preceding three series, even BB3 with all its enmities.

I congratulate you on having the good grace to realise, that it's been the group as a whole who have been talking about Lisa, and not selective bodies, as BB and some members on here would have us believe!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I can't help thinking you have been watching just the highlights from C4 as opposed to the live stream.

I stayed up last night Sun 6/7 until 2 in the morning and the slagging off of Lisa was embaressing. When it comes down to it they don't like Lisa because they are afraid she will beat them to the 70 grand. None of the comments made last night justified there attack on Lisa. In fact I felt that most of the comments made about her were things that should of been said to her face.
I was all for a bit more bitching in this series but last night the hm's really went down in my estimation.

At least with bb3 the hms bitched about everyone not just picking on one person

Indeed, it is making me think less of them all. Sadly, the C4 website will always have its own spin it wants to put on things - we'll see what BBLB does tonight. I have my own reasons for disliking Cameron but that's not relevant to the points in this thread.

At the moment, Nush seems to be the best for me as she's only been involved peripherally. She has still been involved, though. Steph and Ray were as bad as Cameron, in my opinion, last night and Scott wasn't far off.

It becomes depressing viewing for me, after a while, and I just can't see how the original poster hasn't seen it at all

I actually think that Scott is the only housemate who has been making a real effort with Lisa today. He has gone out of his way to talk to her and shown her how to make bread. I think he is the only housemate who has stopped and spoke to her for any length of time. Cameron can barely look at her today never mind speak to her.

I'm so glad that you've acknowledged how bad everyone's been with regard to talking about Lisa. In fact, she seems to be their only topic of conversation when she's not about. It's sad I know, but you can hardly blame them for feeling harsh towards her. She's seen as a threat because she knows so much of the outside world, and has pre-concieved ideas of the HM's to start with. She knew exactly who to team up with prior to entering, and has done so, but it's not helped her that much.

I have no doubts, that outside of the house she's probably a perfectly decent woman, but whilst she's in there, all she does is make my blood boil whenever she opens her mouth.

Very well stated Jafa.

I noticed that in this forum during the first couple of weeks or so of BB4 people were moaning that everyone was getting on 'too well', now people are moaning about 'backstabbing and bitching', seems they (HM's) can't win.

Whats all your problem with the HM's being "vindictive" about Lisa ? and about being bitchy/ vindictive in general
Surely this is the sort of thing that goes on in every day life, and if she wasn't so egotistical, and quite frankly scary they would'nt be bitchin' so much.
Apart from her 80's hairdo, terrible dress sense, "let's change the topic of conversation to what happened to me in Cardiff five years ago", and "I've met every single Welsh football player", what has she got to offer?

Now dont get me wrong I like Scott but the comment above about Scott being the only Hm to make an effort today with Lisa is true.I have noticed that today he has been over polite to her.He hasnt bothered with her before and was fuming last night over the comments she had made about him freezing her out and making her feel awkward.
Instead of having it out with her and sticking up for himself he creeps around her to win her over.
They are all playing the same game of 2 faces.

We are all like this as characters and if you have never behaved in such a way then carry on slagging them off for it....otherwise pot kettle black they are all human.

What are you talking about? There was next to no bitching (compared to previous years) until Lisa came in. The fact that it has suddenly started surely says more about how dreadful she is than it does about how nasty the rest of them are. Besides which, hasn’t Lisa been far nastier to Steph than vice versa? (Lisa one Steph nil, turning the bedroom light on in the middle of the night etc.)

As for Jon being ostracised, he said himself that he felt extremely comfortable in the house. The only time he was alone was when he did it to himself – working in the garden, reading or going to the diary room.
