Seafood has to the the nicest thing around. Fresh lobster, fresh muscles, fresh crab, fresh prawns, fresh seabass, fresh welks, fresh cockles, oysters, plaice, eel, sushi

It is the food of the gods. Anyone agree?

And I have just made myself hungry

I agree.

When ever I go out for a meal I always order seafood.

Even when I get a take-a-away I always have prawns instead of meat. (but that doesn't really count )

I am a seafood junkie.

mmmmmmmm!!!! heaven, we get prawns twice a week from Tesco's - supposed to be for our cat - but I have half of them and she has the other half, we also get mussels, crab sticks, jellied eels (I know, not really seafood !) and whenever I can, oysters, I love em !

For some reason I've always be leary of Monkfish. Somewhere along the line I think it got a bad rep. I don't know much about it. Do you have a recipe that you use for it?

I like good old fashioned haddock. We're lucky coz the Grimsby fish van comes to our town on a Wednesday and the haddock is amazingly fresh, needs a few minutes under the grill with butter and herbs.......oh hungry now

Never used to like prawns, but I've developed a taste for them recently as I've begun to expand my culinary palette. Someone suggested oysters in a strange saucy concoction with lemon juice but I'm not confident enough yet - to cook or eat them!

*shudders* I've never tasted prawns........the thought of them going down my throat makes me want to gag..........they seem like 'wobbly' food to me.

Yeah, I always used to be like that. They're an in-betweeny food for me. There are days when I live on prawn sandwiches and days when I wonder how I ever touch them without gagging. They do taste good, though! You must give them a go

Have you got any tasty oyster recipes, IW? The sauce and lemon juice one I mentioned above isn't all that inspiring...

In New Orleans I had an Oyster Po'boy. Fried Oysters in breadcrumbs with a few dashes of Tabasco and lemon juice in a crusty baguette. Now that was delicious.
Years ago Oysters were so plentiful and cheap that it was all the poor people could afford, hence the name.
