Currently doing my second full playthrough of GTA5's single player mode. Just coming up to the 3rd heist mission. Last time I played it I didn't know that if you leave Lester's assassination missions until after the main story missions then you can earn a billion dollars for each character, which is what I'll be doing this time.

Back to Hitman Absolution, gave up on it not long after launch when it glitched out and corrupted my save game. Glad I am finally playing through it again.

COD4, replaying in single player but on Veteran level - first time I've attempted a COD game at anything other than "Normal" difficulty. Turns out it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be, although I am getting stuck on "No Fighting In The War Room".

That level was a complete pain in the ass.

I'm currently delving back into my collection of 360 games and trying to get achievements.

At the moment it's Forza 3 but I've got Forza 4 and Horizon to go after that.

I'll be going back to most of the COD games, Halo games and the first 3 Gears of War as well as some Ghost Recon.

I wish Microsoft would allow you to delete some games from your achievement profile. There are a few on there that I played once and thought they sucked but because an achievement popped I can't delete it..... LOTR Battle For Middle Earth I'm looking at you!!

Have been playing that recently after picking it up from Games for Gold.

It sure is. I've looked at some youtube videos of that level hoping they might reveal a secret technique but there doesn't appear to be any. I hate that you get a nine minute countdown on that level too and are constantly aware of the clock ticking down while making no progress through that corridor.

Forza 3 was a bit of a drag, especially the Solid Gold achievement - weren't there something like 400 races to complete?.

I'll probably tackle COD MW2 next as there seems to be a decent set of points to be gained by completing the levels on Veteran. Then WaW, MW3, ...

My recent victory in Pokemon SoulSilver lead me to playing my other Pokemon games again. So playing Sapphire on the GBA as I never actually got past the Elite Four.

My current team:

- Trapinch [bite, sand attack, faint attack, /] (thinking ahead, can kill dragons, watch for ice)
- Hariyama [strength, arm thrust, rock smash, vital throw] (kills dark types, watch for Meditite/Medicham)
- Swellow [peck, wing attack, double team, quick attack] (kills grass/bugs, obvious watch for electrics)
- Kirlia [confusion, calm mind, double team, teleport] (kills fighting, poison, ghosts, watch for bugs and dark)
- Electrike [spark, shock wave, quick attack, thunder wave] (kills water/flying, ground or other electric types a danger)
- Marshstomp [tackle, mud shot, mud slap, water gun] (kills fire/ground/rock/steel, Ludicolo is the real threat)

Pretty basic really, but covers most types I think. Will have to watch out for the threats.

Recently played some Aliens vs Predator on the 360 and was stunned at how good looking this game still is, particularly the dynamic lighting and it packs a good atmosphere too. Compared to Aliens: CM it's as if it's running on a different console entirely.

You should try the classic CoD2. From memory there are only about 12 achievements and they're all for completing levels and the whole game. If you complete the game on veteran you basically get 1000 points.

On CoD4, what makes that level even more infuriating is that the checkpoints are quite far apart so you have to negotiate lots of tricky sections one after the other being deadly accurate and getting a slice of luck or you get thrown back to the last checkpoint. The fact it's timed and the enemies continuously spawn also makes it harder.

On Forza 3 I'm midway through season 5 and working my way to the solid gold achievement. The one I'm finding a right pain, is the drifting achievement for getting 100k points on a lap. My best so far is 65k.

First CoD I got was 3 back in 2008. Sold the game last year. I don't think it's worth forking out money for 2 just for the sake of 1000 points. If the game is offered to me as a loan then I might, but I'll probably not bother with it.

The checkpoints never seemed to be consistent on the "No Fighting..." level for me. The first one would appear in the canteen/kitchen and the second one just before you head down the stairs. But it wasn't on every run-through. Maybe it's programmed not to checkpoint if you have below a certain time left? Or just luck, as you say. Spent a couple of hours at it with a friend last night but we gave up on it and moved on to MW2.

I did get the Forza 3 drift lap achievement but can't remember what car I was using so not able to help you out there, sorry.

I picked up a copy of CoD2 from eBay about a year ago and it was only £1.99 with free postage.
