Wonderful isn't it - my favourite on the web-site. I love the duets especially Un Giorno Per Noi with Hayley Westentra. Now this is how to put together classical singers in a duet to truly maximise their individual voices.

A lot of thought has clearly gone in to putting this album together....the song choices are second to none.

The difference between Sony & Universal Classics & Jazz approach to this genre is so evident. But having said that I think I do Jonathan a major injustice if I say it is all down to record company. He said that the reason he had chosen Universal (rather than Sony/EMI) was the level of creative input they were prepared to give him. It has been said by some on here that he is arrogant - not at all but he driven & knows his own mind. Key - if you are to succeed on a long term basis.

Jonathan is certainly not arrogant,I have been lucky enough to of met him and each time I have met him he been charming and lovely

Totally loving the clips -the duets are brilliant ..theres not one clip I dislike -so can't wait for this album .

Hope if this Pavarotti story is true we get some confirmation soon-if it's true it's all very exciting -i'm starting to think it might be true .

I cant stop playing the samplers. What wonderful songs and music they have chosen - and Jonathan's voice is the crowning glory.

The duets are superb - I love them both but I think the one with All Angels - from the clips - is absolutely superb.

I also love Che Gelida Manina and Down in the river to pray.

And still loving The Gladiator and The Godfather - and Here's to the Heroes.

There's not one song on there that I dont like!

A fabulous sounding album - roll on 18th Feb.

The article in the Daily Mail gives a lot more detail and makes the whole thing sound far more likely - David King is a known producer of musical extravaganza and I can see 6 months in the States and 6 months in the UK going rather well and quite believable

That's exactly my feeling. Richard Kay is usually on the inside track & he is fairly accurate in what he puts into his column. He must know Jonathan Shalit as his clients do get regular mentions. It's not like Mirror/Sun/NOTW celebrity pages which have a lot of PR spin & nonsense.

Onwards & upwards - Jonathan.

Apparently David King is Debbie's uncle....so keeping it in the family then

Lovin' the sample tracks on 7 digital and really looking forward to the album release in a couple of weeks time

Dont forget the radio tour starts on Friday folks:

10am SpiritFM

12pm BBC Southern Counties

2pm BBC Kent

Hopefully we might get to hear some of the album tracks in full on some of the stations.

I'm emailing in a request to play something to each of the stations! Fingers crossed.

Thanks for this. We should get to hear from the man himself what is happening re: Las Vegas/Palladium show surely on Friday. The more you think about this the more it is an absolute fit for Jonathan. There were rumours that he would go into West End after G4 but being chased by the 3 major record labels of course he was going to sign a deal. Seems he is doing both - theatre/recording. This show is perfect as a 'vehicle' as it is musical theatre but using his classical/operatic voice. He can't just do standard musical theatre - total waste in my view.

I see he was at the South Bank Show Awards do at Dorchester Hotel yesterday. In very illustrious company going by the piccies.

They have 3 different banner ads over the ClassicFM site seem to remember that The Blond One was one of the suggestions for an album title but that was before anyone knew about the theme so Blond is Back is right on the money

Cover know up http://www.classicfm.co.uk/

Looking forward to buying this tomorrow

Quote:
“Today I've been in a very posh suite at the Intercontinental shooting Jonathan Ansell who used to be in classical boy band G4 and will now be playing Pavorotti on stage in Las Vegas. He was very pleasent and more than happy to put the effort in. Makes a huge difference...”

Very nice piccy!

Just bought ClassicFM Mag March 2008 - with Jonathan on the cover. Looks like the photoshoot was done at Pinewood studios. Interesting article written by the editor John Evans - really good to read something written by someone who seems to know something about the interviewee?? There is quite a lot of talk about ambition and what it takes to get on which would be good reading for any X Factor alumni or auditionee?

Other interesting fact Jonathan was voted 4th in the ClassicFM Listeners top 10 Heroes - there is far more to this guy than people realise??

Yay - Jonathan confirms the Pavorotti / Las Vegas show stories are true. A little guarded saying that it was being finalised by his management. Best not to go out in media shouting about it until deal sealed & delivered or you can look more than a little foolish

Daisy-Chain - Classical Fm magazine article excellent. I love the sentence:

The new album is certainly a departure from the usual collection of warmed up opera arias that grace so many crossover discs, but then 'Nessum Dorma' was never going to cut it as a debut solo for a singer fresh out of X-Factor sensation, G4.

This is great as it is taking him away from the current 'glut' of crossover artists. This CD for him is so much more about being taken seriously as an artist in this genre.

Great that he made 4th in Top 10 Heroes. Also what a boost for Russell to make No.1

Wonderful that Jonathan is No 4 in the Classical Heroes - and I agree a great boost for Russell to be No 1 - great for him.

Did anyone listen to the radio interview on BBC Kent today -it was excellent. They asked Jonathan if he would sing something live in the studio and he just opened his mouth and sang My Own True Love fantastically. The reaction in the radio studio said it all - rapturous cheers and applause and total disbelief that he could sing like that off the cuff and still sitting down!

Hopefully it will be up on the listen again feature soon and I will add in the link - so so so worth listening to - the aria at the end Che Gelida Manina had me in tears. It was beautiful.
