Every time bad weather is mentioned, out trots the story of Michael Fish's 1987 mis-forecast.
Live updates, today 4.27pm: Scott talks about the town of Towyn being flooded ten years ago 'due to a high tide and flooding'; he tells Ray that it wasn't anything to do with the great storm of 1987 as Ray remembers that Michael Fish said 'nothing to worry about' the day before the hurricane.
Nobody ever seems to consider what would have happened if he'd got it right that night ... All over the south, people rushing to get home, or trying to reach elderly/sick relatives; employees called in to protect property; sightseeing idiots out in force; reporters rushing around trying to get the best stories/pictures; the emergency services put on alert, and kept very busy trying to rescue all of the above. The injuries and deaths would have been horrendous! Thanks to Michael, we were all safely tucked up in bed. Well done, that man!
