How old is Cameron really? He's just implied he might be 38.
From the DS updates:
4.29pm: Cameron remembers the Aberfan school slag heap disaster of the 60s and states that he remembers 'watching it on the TV'; Ray sniggers at the term 'slag heap' before wondering if all the kids there were killed. Now, I'm fairly certain that we're talking about something that happened in 1967 or 1966. If Cameron is 32, as has been widely claimed (I think) then he would have been born in 1970 or 1971 Is this why he is so worried about Lisa? If he really did remember Aberfan, lets say he was three or so at the mimum, and giving it 1967 (or 1968 to be on the safe side), then he must be actually nearer 38. Can anyone elucidate? Am I getting the dates wrong |

Oh, I see from later in the updates that someone else has picked up on this.
Still, is Cameron lying about seeing the disaster, or is he lying about his age? |

Is there anyway of checking his dob? BB would know, as they would have had his passport, but they wouldn't necessarily tell if he had lied, as that's the sort of thing they like people to 'find out.' Nobody would have checked on Cam so far because people, like, don't for boys. Usually.
I thought he appeared older than 32, myself. |

What could be gained from not giving his correct date of birth.
BB has his passport - d.o.b is in it. His family would have to lie. His school friends would soon spill the beans to the press. Conclusion he is 32 |

I don't see Julyan 'secrets from the family room' Sinclair doing anything to spill the beans, do you. What friends? Funnily enough, very few people that know Cameron have surfaced. That's another strange thing. Anyone remember any 'friends' Cameron turning up on any of the support programmes? I remember people for all of the other HMs. |

No one has anything to gain from not telling his correct d.o.b.
BB Mother + Father Family Work Friends Why would all of the above want to conceal his age? |

BB Mother + Father Family Work Friends Why would all of the above want to conceal his age? All of the rest, bar work, would have no reason to go against Cameron's lying about his age. As for work: I don't think any of my colleagues know my exact age, for starters. And I certainly don't know the age of my boss. And Cameron is the boss of the fish factory, isn't he? |

I agree that Lisa is most probably older than 35. And again, that hasn't been trumpeted for reasons similar to those that I am given for Cameron's real age being older than the one given.

Whilst doing some family research at the registration office in Glasgow last week I had a look at Cam and Feds birth records and I can confirm that Cam is 32 and Fed is 23.

Originally posted by scabby Indeed he does, and it states he left primary school in 1983, Stromness Academy in 1989 and Napier University in 1992 - all of which are consistent with being 32 as stated (I'm 32, and I also graduated 1992). Of course if anyone really WANTS to believe, on the basis of him remembering a TV programme about the terrible disaster of Aberfan, that he's actually 38 and left primary school at 18, and decided to lie for some reason, with the sinister collusion of his family, Endemol, C4, the passport authority, the Registry of Births, and Orkney Salmon, then fine! Or are Friends Reunited "in on it" too? does he have an entry on Friends Reunited? ![]() Bob

I'm 3 years older than Cameron, and would not have remembered it at the time. For a while I too thought I had seen the actual news of the event, but I now realise it was probably a documentary shown a few years (maybe when I was 5 or 6 at the time) after the event as it was still a powerfully resonating tragedy.
I even thought, when I was quite young that the Titanic had sunk only a few years previously (ok .. I'm not THAT ancient )Young kids don't have an adult sense of time, so its easy to get mixed up with repeated news events seeming like they are or have just happened. Check out the link below for a description of the Aberfan tragedy : http://www.nuff.ox.ac.uk/politics/aberfan/desc.htm .. and from the same site, a poignant and moving description of the aftermath by Laurie Lee : http://www.nuff.ox.ac.uk/politics/aberfan/lee.html Last edited by alexq : 07-07-2003 at 20:38. |

If you are researching your family, here's a tip, start with Mr C. Manson. |
