I have an ipod nano 2nd generation 4gb and it has locked up. It wont even go back, switch off etc. Is there a way to reset it? how do I get it to work again. I tried opening itunes but nothing happened.

Please help.

That's happened to me twice, is it where it won't switch off, just frozen? Cause if so just leave it for 8hrs (i left it while i was asleep) til it runs out of battery, then next morning, an apple was on screen, and i could turn it on! I then charged it up and it's fine! Hope this helps.

Switch the lock on the top on and off a couple of times, then hold down Menu and the centre button simultaneously. The screen should go black then the Apple logo should reappear and your iPod will then reset. You won't lose any music doing it that way.

Just use the reset function. My Nano throws a wobbly periodically and the reset works in seconds and you don't lose anything.

I don't think we can download off the US iTunes site, no.

Same thing has happened to me just now. It's one of the new Ipod Nanos.

Do I just leave it till the battery runs out?

If it's broken I'm going to get in serious trouble

This always seems to happen to mine when I try to play a newly installed large podcast. Holding down the top and the centre buttons simultaneously until it resets seems to work.

Thank you so much, mine locked up this afternoon, wouldn't turn off or do anything, I'm so glad I looked at this thread, I did what you advised the other poster to do and it worked I was dreading having to tell my son, I'd buggered up his Christmas present, phew !!
