DVD recorder compatabilty
I, Mustard Mitt

I presently own a Pana dmrez 45v recorder and was thinking about buying a second dvd recorder for another room in the house. I'm looking at a pana dmrez 27 unit. Does anybody know if I could record on one machine on a dvd-rw and play it on the other without finalising?

I certainly can't do it between my pana and my son's Pioneer machine but was hoping that both being panasonic would be ok.

Thanks in advance

Yes . I believe you will have no problem doing that ...They have the same basic engine.... but obviously I cannot guarantee it.

If you want to be 100% certain before purchase, can you find anybody or any place with a Panasonic machine in where you could try playback of an unfinalised recording?

If its any help, I can play unfinalised dvd-rws recorded in either of my dmr ex77 and dmr ez47 machines in the other without any problems.

Hi - I need some help with copying dvd's to HDD on my DMR-EX85B. Most work ok but a couple of home made dvd's always show a screen caption ""Warning IncompatibleTV System Setting" and will not transfer to HDD. System is set ok to PAL and none of my DVD's are NSTC. Have you had this screen caption? Howdid you get round it?
Hope you can help?

The DVD is a DVD-R (infiniti) and it will play ok in the dvd mode on my DMR-EX85EB but when I try to copy to HDD I get the "WARNING-INCOMPATIBLE TV SYSTEM SETTING" on screen message and it won't work. The CD may have been created on my PC. It was a while ago and I'm not sure! Can't see any reference to this on-screen message in the instruction book and when I tried Panasonc's helpline some time ago they weren't much help and I'd given up till I found this forum. Thanks Gav for your response - Has anyone else had this message on a Panny DVD/HDD recorder?

Do I understand from this that you didn't write the DVD yourself?

So it could in fact be NTSC?

Try changing the TV System setting to NTSC then try to copy the DVD over.

Remember to change the settings back to PAL afterwards.

When playing back DVD's the unit can auto switch the TV systen between PAL and NTSC provided no recording is taking place / timer entry is present.

It doesn't display incompatible TV system message when auto switching.

I'm not sure you will be able to play back from the HDD or not. The recording listing should say if the recording is NTSC if it sucessfully copies it over.

Hope that helps.

I'm almost certain it's not NTSC but I'll try a manual switch over on system setting and see if that allows me to copy DVD to HDD,remembering,of course, to change back to PAL - Thanks - Watch this space.
