Vegetarian scotch eggs
There are some Scotch Eggs in the fridge but I gave up eating piggies.
![]() http://www.handmadescotcheggs.co.uk/ Found this place but look at the price of them, 12 quid postage. Anyone know where to get hold of them, any supermarkets have them tucked away on their shelves.I can almost taste them, and pineapple ski yoghurt's. |

You can get them in Holland and Barratt. I used to eat them before I became a vegan.

Holland & Barrett, are they the health food people?
We have one of them in the local precinct I think, I'm amazed at the human brain's ability to recreate the taste of something you eat years ago.

Also, they do a good 'porkless pie' as well, which is gorgeous. Just like a pork pie, but veggie friendly. Mmmmmmmmmmm!

I've only ever had the giant ones. I'll have to try the smaller ones next time I'm there.

I don't eat meat or fowl (I do eat fish) but I've never understood the desire for vegetarian food that tastes like meat. Vege burgers, sausages and mince that pretend to be meat just make me gag - they all taste awful to me.
I think it just harks back to the fact a lot of us were brought up eating that kind of food and it's sometimes easy to eat like that. I've become a good cook in the years I've been a veggie but when I first 'turned' I had to rely a lot on convenience veggie food because the meat equivalent was all I knew!

When you think about it, it has to be shaped into something. Vegetarian 'blobs' don't sound too appealing. |

The only vegetarian sausages I like are the Linda McCartney ones which don't attempt to taste like meat. The various Quorn ones are truly awful to my taste as are Quorn burgers.

I didn't stop eating animals because they weren't tasty, I stopped it because of my personal beliefs on the subject, so I really enjoy all of the convincing meat alternatives.but, I do understand how it could be gross, I know when I first stopped eating meat it was hard to eat meat substitutes without feeling weird because some of it was so meat-like. |

I still eat some vegan meat substitues occasionally, but it does feel very weird when they taste a little bit too much like meat!
Now I've discovered tofu I much prefer it, as it's not trying to be meat and can take on any flavour you want. I think your tastes just change naturally after a while. I used to be a cheese addict, and when I first went vegan I bought lots of the fake cheeses, but now I couldn't care less about it. |
