To declare an issue as normal would indicate a high degree of frequency.

Even the pre 1.00.06 did not have a high degree of frequency.

File system corruption should be consider abnormal and it happens on a post 1.00.06 9200*** ... get it replaced under warranty.

my version 21 was working perfectly, hadn't missed any beginnings or ends, until i went on holiday. While i was away it decided not to record ski sunday, bbc2, casualty, bbc1, neither had any other recordings at a similar time, it also failed to record holby city - it did record eastenders set just before.

all set with seris link and AR, autopadding off. All programmes remained in the scheduled record - the ski sunday with the next date and this it did record, casualty had the date from the day before that it failed to record.

I also set up channel 301 on the off chance that I'd get the interactive ski sunday - i used to do this for strictly come dancing, and that worked - this time it didn't.

It all seems rather random, and all rather disappointing.

Can I assume that these didn't record because the beeb didn't send the appropriate signal as to the start time? shame it didn't just record the time slot set up...

any comments . thoughts as to why this happend?

thanks

I would not assume anything! It could be the PVR's problem as much as the BBC's if it didn't do what it was told or didn't understand the metadata.

It is weird why sometimes the scheduled recording just disappears and why it is certain programs that are more prone than others!

Had my first ever (in over 2 years) failed recording on Sunday. Well, not so much a failed recording as a phantom extra recording:

Humax has been set to record 'Lark Rise to Candleford' on series record for that past few weeks. All recordings have been fine (in fact no missed starts either).

On Sunday at about 10.30pm we went to watch it and I noticed there were two recordings in the playlist. One from 20:10 to 21:10 (if memory serves) and one from 20:10 and still going. This was my first runaway recording too!

I stopped the runaway recording and checked both recordings and they both seemed to be ok. I deleted the runaway one and we watched the other one which was just fine.

For the record I am on v20 having downgraded from v21 after lots of lockups two weeks agp. I'm going to try going back to v21 tonight if I get time.

Add me to the list

Scheduled Wild at Heart via Series link. Went to watch from library - not there, deleted a couple of programs and it appeared - pressed play - black screen and never saw it again

Has anyone any ideas if rolling back firmware will fix ?

Hi, OP here again.

Ladette to Lady completely failed to record tonight. I happened to display the channel list at about 9:15, when it should have been recording. Horizon was recording correctly. There was no sign of 'Ladette...' anywhere. I changed to ITV and the programme was running. The info button revealed that the now/next data was correct and the icons were showing to indicate that the programme was set to record and was a series link item.

So everything was in place, the recording just failed to happen. There was nothing set to record before 'Ladette..'. Horizon was set to tape with the same start time, and Shameless was also scheduled to tape directly after 'Laddette...'. Horizon and Shameless taped perfectly.

I'm going back to auto-padding for now. Whether these failures to record are down to the broadcaster or the box, the system is just too unreliable for me to use it right now. I have now had failed recordings for each of the big four channels which makes me suspect that these occasional failures are more down to the box than the broadcaster.

The worrying thing is that I read on another thread that a user has been experiencing these recording failures when using auto-padding. I have never (in nearly 2 years) had an unexplained recording failure with auto-padding, they have only ever occurred when using series-link. Time will tell...

Cheers

I thought I had this problem last week (Saturday) with Grand Designs. I noticed the programme was not recording and I knew it was series linked. However the Hummy had cleverly decided that it was a repeat of Wednesday's showing which I'd already watched, and tonight's programme is correctly scheduled to record. A/R and S/L are working well for me so far.

With a real feeling of disappointment, I rolled back to .15 this morning. After the OTA upgrade, I initially set the Hummy for AR and used the series link, but I soon found that most of my recordings were missing the first 30-60 seconds and sometimes ending early as well. Sometimes a recording would start, then stop after 2 minutes. I switched off AR and reset autopadding to its previous settings, since when...
- I have had more missed recordings that in the whole of the previous 2 years
- the screen blanks whenever a recording starts (didn't happen with .15)
- the remote response is annoyingly slow
- even when there are no potential timing conflicts, the autopadding settings are frequently ignored
- for the first time, I have seen programmes in the recorded events list that are apparently still recording a day later: these can only be stopped by rebooting the machine

With .21 I could no longer set a recording from the EPG and be confident that it would succeed, even partially, so .21 had to go. I know that many users have reported no problems, but I feel that there is something going on that a better beta testing programme might have shown up. Not Humax's finest hour, IMHO.

Hi.

I just had my first failed recording, space 1999 at 7.00pm ITV4

I noticed there was no recording indicator at 7.15pm, I was waching the news at the time.

I tried to change channel to itv4, but all i got was a black screen, I tried a few more all black, So i went to standby and switched it off on the back of the machine.

All is ok, now i hope, but what happened.

regards

John.

Had the odd failed recording as a result of 5 lockups over about two weeks - so I've rolled back to v20. Viewing the EPG in playback seems to be the only thing I've lost by doing that.

Can someone suggest where I can get the .20 software? Hummy.org appears to carry only .21 (though it wrongly calls it .20).
