for me it was BB2.

BB1 was ok, although i didn't get into it until the last few weeks.

BB2 was brilliant. Brian was so funny. Unfortunately there's not been any housemates like him since. all the other housemates have been dull to say the least.

BB3 - very boring, none of the housemates stood out (ok there was Jade, but that's not saying much).

BB4 - its been marginally better than BB3, but lately it has gone extremely zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

maybe the BB concept is getting a bit out-dated now. i think they should stop BB for a few years after this one, cos every year it's the same.

imo they havent really had any interesting HM's that have really stood out and made an impact.

anyone else agree/disagree?

From a purists view, it has to be BB1. It had everything. Romantic frisson, diverse characters with a bit of life experience, bust-ups, sending offs, the works.. All topped off by a working class hero donating the 70K to charity...

For me, it was BB3, which was very entertaining.

BB2

but Alex my fav BB HM followed by Jon

For me BB2 had everything it took to be a really entertaining program:

Complete nutcase Penny
Brian and Narinder (also Brian and Bubble) hysterical double acts
Paul and Helen romance
Amma and Stuart arguing
Josh coming in after 1 or ?2 weeks and bursting Brian's bubble a bit, then the sexual tension that followed
Dean and Elizabeth playing mummies and daddies

I don't think I missed a single day - I rushed home from work to watch it and talked constantly about whilst at work. None of the BB's have got even close to it since.

That said, my favourite HM's of all time are:

1. Anna
2. Brian
3. Alex
4. Jon

I can't choose between 1 and 2. I loved 1 because it was something new and I thought Anna was fabulous and I like 2 for all the reasons dizzie posted

1 or 2? 1 or 2? 1 or 2? Hmmmm.....can't decide, both were great

Yep BB2 was the best, closely followed by BB1. BB2 gets the edge because my favourite HM won, whereas Anna came second in BB1 despite me busting a psychic gut sending good vibes for her to win.

lol, i'd completely forgotten that Amma and Stuart existed! although the majority of BB constestants are forgotten within weeks of the show finishing (except maybe for the winner and runner up).

BB2 compulsive viewing almost from day one! Closely followed by BB1, although the final was a bit disappointing. BB3 was more about who I disliked than liked, and BB4 hasn't even left the launchpad!

Personally I don't have a favourite out of the first three BBs because they were all different in their own way.
Also difficult to judge as I didn't have E4 or Sky interactive for BB1 and 2.

I have not enjoyed BB4 as much as I was hoping to.

As for fave HM, it is Alex. He is unique for all his good and bad points.

Wasn't that Liz' b'day where she (and all the other girls) got drunk, got naked, writhed around in the spa bath together and treated Paul/Dean/Brian to an eyeful!!!

Perfect summation. I agree... And there were NO GIMMICKS!! and the experience was not diluted by pandering to the butterfly minded who need action action action..BB1 was a thing of quiet beauty that because it was untampered with, blossomed into an awesome experience ALL BY ITSELF!

BB1 by far and away the best - although BB2 was enjoyable because of Brian. BB3 was baaaaaaad - anyone remember:
"Day 23 in the BB house, and as a treat for sucessfully eating last night's treat the housemates have been given a treat....."?
BB4 has been OK(ish)....

BB1 was terrific, the HM's had more than 1 brain cell between them and everything was new.
Big brother did give them topic to debate but little other artificial interfereance.

BB2 had far more extreme personalities and the wannabies. Fortunatly Brian and the Helen/Paul romance saved the day.
BB2 had plenty of hate figures and had a real battle for the winner. The main letdown was the extra housemate Josh who promised much and gave little.

BB1 has the edge over BB2 for me as BB1 was the more mature programme.

BB3 had jade and the divide tv at its lowest.

BB4 trying to go back to basics but forgot to get any interesting housemates. dishwater

BB2 was best

I wrote this on another forum that posed the same question:

BB3: Very interesting characters emerged. Jade was a legend. So was Alex. Adele's bullying was infuriating... but that's what was entertaining.
.
.
BB2: A bit dull, but the likable HMs made it enjoyable. Brian was a star. Elizabeth was pleasant. Helen and Paul romance was good to watch.
.
BB1: Looks so ancient and cheap now. HMs weren't all attractive and weren't all in it to be TV presenters. Probably quite boring, but I can't remember much now. Had novelty value because the concept was new. I just remember really admiring Anna.
.
.
.
.
.
.
BB4: A lot of terrible judgements by the makers has led to a disjointed show. Housemates are either boring, or unlikable, or both. A revolving door of people coming and going. Reward room lost its novelty value after the first week. The "stars" evicted early on.

after this year they really should stop BB, have a break, think of something new. As with all reality tv shows, the public get bored. lets face it, most people want to go on BB to get 'famous'. BB1 was the exception because the HM's didnt know what was going to happen, for all they knew the show could have been a total flop.

also, every BB has produced a couple.
BB1 - cant remember their names got together. they're married and got a kid now havent they?
BB2 - Helen and Paul - they're still together.
BB3 - Sophie and Lee - they still together.
BB4 - ?? my guess is that maybe Cameron and Steph will get it together, or maybe even Nush and Scott.

All of the above (dizzie, we are of the same mind). I also liked the interaction between Brian and Dean, I think they got on quite well especially when Brian had his more sensible head on.

In order of preference for shows:
BB2
BB1
BB3
BB4

I think BB1 and BB2 were joint best. When I'm watching this series of BB, I can see how bad this really is in comparison. All of the housemates in both series (with perhaps the exception of Liz + Dean in BB2) were all great to watch.

Will we ever forget Caggy, Nicola, Narinder and Penny?!
