The Hot FM - Streaming

I've been listening to The Hot FM over the past couple of days using my inet radio. It's playing quite decent chart/oldies music with some VT.

I cannot find it on the web or the stream address. As I'm listening to it on a 'Reciva' this hides the url from me.

Any ideas who or what is behind this station? Or what the url is?

I've had a look on the Reciva site. Is it the Swedish Hot FM ?

If so this is their page: http://www.hotfm.se/

I looked at the source for the Reciva page and then that lead me to a Shoutcast page containing the URL.

Download a bit of software called URLSnooper and it will display the URL of the stream so you can save it for future use!

No it's not the Swedish version it is UK. I don't know how I can determine the url of a station playing on a Reciva.

Not sure how urlsnooper would work on Reciva also.

Good station, it would be better to know a little more andbe able to stream it from my pc when not at my reciva radio.

Run URLSnooper on the PC, log on to www.reciva.com and select the station from your playlist! Voila!

It's probably this:
http://laser-on-air.co.uk/default.aspx

"Europe's Most Exciting Station".. haha!
They'll be "The UK's leading music force" next.

Yup it's Laser-On-Air.

Clicking on the Reciva listen link calls that URL. This is the URL of the stream:

http://64.72.124.90:10084/listen.pls

Which is a Shoutcast stream.

Thanks for the heads up on this station, I'm locked on now! Sounds to me like Chiltern & Horizon in the days before the hostile takeover by Bernard's army!

This is how they would sound today if they had evolved over the years under the Chiltern Radio Group Ltd (but not kept the same jingles from 1994).

It annoys me though when stations use 'FM' in the name, when they are internet or satellite only! Then again, Hot Radio sounds awful.

Even without presenters you know the song/artist through winamp.

Now why can't they send this info onto Reciva radios like Virgin does?

Sounds like Chiltern in the 80s (not that that's a bad thing in my book...)

The addy is laser-on-air. Is this owned and operated by laser broadcasting?

No, it has nothing to do with laser broadcasting. The on air name of the station was originally laser, but the station had this nice friendly email sent to them..........(NOT from laser broadcasting incidentally)!!

The Laser name is protected by a UK trademark and you are legally prohibited to broadcast or stream ANY audio service using the LASER brand.

We are also the holder of a broadcasting licence from Ofcom for the Laser name and are

registered with the appropriate professional bodies within the UK such as MCPS, PRS etc.,

We therefore formally request that you immediately cease and desist from any further webcasting under our brand name "LASER".

Please would you contact me as soon as possible to confirm that you intend to immediatley comply in order to avoid any further violation of our LASER trademark etc.,

Our lawyers have been sent a copy of this communication.

Should you fail to cease violating our trademark, we shall instruct our lawyers to instigate immediate legal action and seek appropriate damages for any such continued trademark violation.

Thank you for your assistance in this urgent matter,

Weren't 'The Hot FM', SuperGold and 'The Hotter Mix' all licensed and copyrighted at one time? I know the typeface for 'The Hot FM' definetely was.

If they can freely use The Hot FM name these days, good luck to them - sounds much bigger and more current than Laser which still sounds naff.

Incidentely, it was off stream again this morning.

Starting listening yesterday, and can now confirm that on my Intempo GX-01 song and artist information is given out on the third line of the display.

I was going to say the same, the name reminds me of listening to Galaxy in the early 90's, same goes for severn sound before it turned into a GWR clone..
