yes you can keep meat frozen for months - i dont keep it longer than 6 months though. make sure you defrost it thoroughly.

Did you freeze a carcass??

Really you need to allow it to defrost at room temperature, then strip the meat off the bone, then heat that thoroughly ensuring it is sizzling hot.

I often freeze meats & they comeout fine, to save money I often buy a whole chicken & cut it into seperate pieces & then freeze each piece.

But with beef I am very fussy, I will make something like a chilli or a pie of somesort & then freeze it, as with beef when you defrost it you lose a lot of the blood & juices & just doesn't taste the same when cooked, compared to cooked fresh.

Several years ago some scientists in the (then) USSR discovered a mammoth frozen in the Siberian ice pack. They dug it out, defrosted it and cooked the meat.
Mind you it was probably better than any Russian food at the time.

Nothing wrong with frozen meat, just make sure that is cooked well when it is defrosted.

We had a leg of Newzealand lamb, on Sunday last, that had been in the freezer for 1 year, it tasted wonderful, bought it from Sainsburys.
