Theft of 2nd-hand phone?
I have a 2nd hand phone on contract - I quickly went off the one I originally had so bought this one from a shop.
If the original one had been stolen then I know the network could blacklist it but what about the phone I have now? It was originally on a different network to the one I'm on right now, so who should I speak to to get it blacklisted if it gets stolen? |

Well if the phone was stolen with your sim card in it then at least get your network to block the sim to stop a large phone bill going through.
I've heard of blocking phones by providing networks with IMEI numbers but never really thought about questions like yours before. Try the network you are on as a starting point - but you will need your IMEI no. I think. |

Whenever you switch on your phone or make a call the imei and the sim card details are logged. If you report your mobile as lost or stolen then the network normally blacklists the mobile phone last used/registered against your account!
This being the mobile last used by yourself, however you may want to confirm the imei to make sure the correct mobile gets blacklisted! Does not matter if it's second hand, a handset which was originally supplied by another network bla bla bla... |

You can register the phone yourself as belonging to you. When you report the theft to the police, it will be blacklisted.

My network (Tmobile) will only blacklist their own handsets.
Although this was a few years back now. |
