I currently have a Nokia 1600 which was supplied with a Vodafone PaYG SIM.

As an existing customer of Virgin for tv, landline and broadband, I am considering taking up their SIM only offer of 300 mins and 300 texts for £10pm as I feel it would be cheaper for me.

Would this be a case of just swappinhg the SIM card, or would it be more complicated? I realise that I would have a new number but that is not a problem.

you may need to unlock the device, then you will get the new sim and put that into the phone.

Thanks.

If I should need to unlock it, how would I go about it?

If you've been with the network for a while, they have to do it for you. Though it'll cost you. Or any independent mobile shop (i.e. some bloke, not Carphone Warehouse) will do it.

You can also take your number with you, if you like. Ask your network - again, they'll probably charge you.

If you PM me the IEMI number. I'll send you the unlock code.

You can post it on here if you wished, just that some people don't like to post that on an open forum.

Dial *#06# to display the IEMI number.
