Posted this on AV forums but no solution todate so I will try here also..............Just bought Panasonic HDD/RAM recorder DMR-EX77 which is supposed to read jpgs from CD-R/ CDRW etc.

All I get when putting such discs in recorder is either "No read" or Unsupport" messages.... What am I doing wrong??????

I have tried discs that have not been finalised for use on other computers and also discs that have and still no JPG reading.....I have not included folders. I have named them "3" digits only.....What am I doing wrong or is my unit faulty!!!!

Tested it with home made CD music discs and no problem reading them...

Dosn't it only read photos from the SD card, otherwise you need some authoring software to make a photo CD or DVD.
I don't think it reads them directly but I could be wrong.

On the subject of photos how do I get them to display correctly mine seem to get the bottom bit cropped off.

Yes the machine is intended to read Jpgs from CD-R, CD-RW,RAM, and DVD-R discs. It can also write to SD cards....

Correct you learn something new every day.

I just knocked one up myself and didn't have any real problems.

just for a test I made two folders on my desktop "001 Folder" and "002 Folder" and dropped some jpegs in both folders numbering them 1a to 10a.

I burnt the two folders using Nero onto a TDK cd-r disk, it wouldn't read all the jpegs though. I didn't think it would as they are not in the same format. I need to isolate the problem and maybe re-encode them. They also need some resizing to fit the screen better.

The only problem is that you have to click the remote to go to the next picture, I carn't seem to find any slide show option.

Just discovered that my machine is not reading DVDRW discs so I cant record to them either. Put a blank DVDRW in and got the message "Unsupport"...

Are there any settings I should know about for it to recognise a DVDRW disk!!!!!!!

Doesn't the option button on the remote give you a menu with "Slide show " on it..... When I tried my SD card that is what I got. No discs are working for me however.....

I don't think so, I'll test mine now with a dvd-rw.

Damn rw-discs are so slow, anyway I did copy a program to a DVD-RW and it did have to be finalized before I could see it in the PC.

I did try formatting on the pc but the recorder dosn't seem to like that approach.

I'll look again but I don't think I have the option button available for the slide show option.

Yes I've found the option button, it only shows at a certain point in the menu.

Hi. It seems my problem was the Roxo burn software I was using. Just downloaded trial of Nero and that worked. I too could not obtain the options menu. The options menu appears when using the SD card howver...

It looks like I will have to get some DVDRW discs that have not been used on the computer to test for the recording of DVDRW discs....

Hi again, I couldn't get DVD-RW to work if done on the PC the two formats seem incompatible. There dosn't seem to be a finalize option for RW's done on the PC. I couldn't find it in Nero.

There isn't any problems using standard writeable discs and it's much quicker.

You can get the options menu if you go to the top of the screen and highlight folders.

Ram Discs may be another option but I don't have any time to try them right now.

Thanks saves me messing about trying them. I don't plan on using RW discs either as they seem more trouble than they're worth.
