Just for those who weren't watching/listening/understanding - he could only bet on single numbers including zero and black and/or red. The other options available in a normal game of roulette eg spread beting on 4 numbers were NOT available to him.

Put half on red and half on black, then whatever happens you win 50%. ”

So he would end up with the same amount of money he would have got without playing at all (unless if the ball landed on 0, in which case he would have lost everything).

If he wanted to be boring like what you suggest, then he wouldn't have taken part at all as it was optional I think.

Ray didn't know how to play roulette and asked Scott if he should put half on one and half on the other but Scott said that would be pointless because you'd end up with the same money or something like that. Cam said to put all the chips on one colour and the others didn't know what to do either. It seems they were all clueless on this one. Can't say I would've had a clue though either.

In that case Cams proposal was much better than what Ray actually did, because at least they could have kept all the possible winnings.

The simplest answer, requiring bugger all thought, is

£3 on 0 - potentially ending up with £108
£24 on black - giving you £48
£24 on red - as above

You almost certainly lose £3 but you have an itsy chance of doubling your dosh.

surely the only bet to make is it all on red or black. That way you have a slightly less than 50% of doubling your money. But betting is for mugs unless you know someone who owns a few racing horses. Uh ho hum!

...........and how do you do that with 5 x £10 chips and 1 x £1 chip?

Ultimately, gambling is a tax on stupidity and Big Brother hit the jackpot.

Incidentally, a jackpot is not like a spittoon for Ray.
