If Lisa is not evicted,it will go down as the biggest shock in BB history. And I could actually see it happen.

See the bookies section on DS:BB for how Ladbrokes are viewing the eighth eviction!

Do you think the big punters who have staked thousands of pounds on Lisa to be evicted are going to let it happen. They play for real money not a few quid down the local bookies.

Lisa is history.

Why would people bet on her when they're going to lose money?? 1/33 means you bet £33 to get £1 back, right?

If it is a winning bet, then you get the £33 back the you placed + £1winnings. If it is a losing bet, you lose £33. Check the bookies section 'Your betting questions answered' Send your questions in aswell!

Remember they are betting thousands of pounds not small sums.

OK...I don't really see the point of betting that much just to make a profit of £1, but whatever lol. Thanks for the replies.

*edit* Minisidewalk, in that case it would make more sense.

they don't see it as a gamble.

if you put your money in a building society you get a similar return, the difference is they earn their "interest" in one week.

In American horseracing they call it "bridge jumping", because if it loses that's what you feel like doing

So, where does Channel 4's YOU DECIDE come into affect?

Oops, it doesn't.

Another reason not to waste money - the bookies may just as well decide the winners with Channel 4

There are far to many factors against the "You Decide" slogan for anyone to waste money on voting.

I've never gambled and for 1/33 for Lisa to go I wouldn't even place 33p. But Cameron at 25/1 seems like good odds for one pound...

Bookies stop Big Brother bets fearing second sting

Bookmakers have stopped taking bets on Friday's Big Brother eviction because they fear another sting.

Ladbrokes refused new wagers on Lee after thousands of bets were placed on him being kicked out before the nominations were known.

The show's official bookies says the odds against him being evicted went from 33-1 to 7-1 in just 24 hours.

The Sun report Ladbrokes suspect a gambling ring placed bets on the 22-year-old at the longer odds and then planned to flood phone lines when he was nominated.

The betting ban follows Coral stopping bets on Alison being evicted after a rush of wagers saw the odds on her going drop from 8/1 to 2/1.

Ladbrokes spokesman Sean Boyce said: "After that, it appears punters following the action on the internet and E4 are regularly getting ahead of the game."

Bookies had Lee at fourth favourite for eviction behind Sandy, Alex and Jonny.

The difference on this occasion is you will lose £1 by betting on Cameron. Those with the big cash will win enough to wait for the next "bridge jumping" exercise.

Anyone who thinks Lisa won't go if she doesn't walk is unfortunately not really clued up about what makes this so certain a pay day for those betting Lisa to be evicted.

Do you not think those investing will also get people nominating as well just to doubly confirm she goes? Not that they even need it, they won't lose the dough on this one.

There is enough money changing hands on BETFAIR for anyone wanting a bet to be fully accomodated, high street bookies are not needed anymore basically when you have sites like Betfair. At the moment there is approx £50000 if you wnat to have a bet waiting to be laid on there, only 1.05 now though but you can still get a bet on if you want 50k's worth which will win you $2500 when Lisa walks.

High street bookies are a waste of time these days.

What would happen if Lisa walked out tomorrow instead of waiting for the inevitable on Friday?

Should we avoid walking under bridges?

Then I would be homeless.... would they not give you your money back on that? I suppose not

Ladbrokes do not expect to make much money on markets such as Big Brother. The only reason the offer prices on these 'Novelty' markets is for publicity and PR reasons. This has obviously worked as it has got them free publicity in the press and on the web. Even if The Welsh Dragon survives tomorrow night and ladbrokes have to pay out again on a different HM they would still have got thousands of punds of free publicity.

If you tried to put on 'Tens of Thousands ' they would not let you. More often than not they put a £25 maximum bet (This week it is £100 because Lisa is such a short price 1/33)
No serious gambler or 'Heavyweight Punter' would go near betting on BB as a serious means of making money.

Where gambling and bookmaking is concerned there is only ever one winner.......the Bookmaker !

I should check and read the thread including the links before making statements.

Ladbroke's themselves confirmed that they had taken tens of thousands of pounds on bets for Lisa.

Today Ladbroke's have paid out and closed the book on tomorrows eviction (check bookies on top of page)
