I believe a lot of their other stuff such as simplicity and bolt on are also to be improved from the 1st Feb

Is there a source for this? That's a huge increase in minutes/texts so I'm extremely sceptical.

Its on the o2 website

Fantastic news, I might drop down to the £35 a month tariff then

Do you think they will allow us to do that? I really do not need 1,200 minutes and went with £45 to get the 500 texts.

I wish there was a cheaper one, as I really don't need 600mins!!

It says in the T&C that you can change your tariff up to once a month

also,

The following Paid for Bolt Ons can be added to your iPhone tariff for £7.50/month each, subject to the terms below:
Unlimited O2 to O2 calls;
Unlimited Weekend calls;
Unlimited landline calls;
200 extra anytime minutes;
Unlimited texts (not available for customers who purchase their iPhone from the Carphone Warehouse).

Sucks to be a CPW user! I am downgrading to £35 and then getting an unlimited text bolt on.

You have to remember that in the US they have a 24 month contract. O2's were not that bad compared to them.

yes, they have a longer commitment, incoming calls come out of their allowances and no wifi (although i think this was to make up for the poor EDGE coverage here), but they are getting 5000 off peak mins, 450 peak, 200 SMS which was comparing unfavourably to our deals. and not just because things cost more here. but because the att plans recognised that the phone was subsidised and therefore offered plans better than those available for subsidised phones. whereas o2 iphone plans seemed to offer no financial advantage over non iphone plans. now i think these new o2 iphone plans compare favourably with a simplicity tariff + data bolt on + cloud wifi (at ipod touch plan price). and i think that's excellent because it recognises that iphone isn't subsidised.

You are forgetting that incoming texts also count against their 200 allowance. My friend was receiving spam text from AT&T themselves like we get from O2 every now and then, and was charged for it as a credit against his SMS allowance.

yes, i only found out yesterday that AT&T charge for both incoming and outgoing texts.

The old tarriff was really putting me of getting an iphone. But now I am thinking about it, but the condictions have to be right.

1, I am looking for a new ipod
2, I can get out of my current contract for free.

If both of these are true, I would get one

Im very happy with the new tarrifs i thought about getting the £55 one when i first signed up as i wanted 1200 minutes. I dont normally go over 600 a month mind you, but i've stopped using expensive phone numbers to call companies so now i dont care if they keep me on hold forever.

I was seriously thinking about getting their unlimited text bolt-on but at the moment its not really worth it, half of the people i normally text have had their phones cut off for outgoing as they havent paid their bills so not worth it at the moment.

Still these new tarrifs are excellent and by far the best in the market place as far as i can see.

It's good to see O2 being sensible at last.

im pissed off that they havnt offered more texts to the £45 users. The only reason i got this tariff was because it had more texts, i never make calls.
Is it possible for me to downgrade? They better let me...

Why don't you downgrade to the £35 price plan (which the T&Cs say you can do) and if 500 texts aren't enough, add unlimited texts for £7.50? You'll still save a couple of quid in the process, too.

your friend is either on an iphone tariff or he is not. carphone warehouse have nothing to do with the contracts and tariffs; they just sell the phones.

Actually they do, and according to the O2 site Carphone Warehouse customers can't take the new bolt ons for the iPhone tarriffs.

(Carphone Warehouse get a kickback from the tarriff itself as a selling agent, and I assume this is all O2 has been able to renegotiate).
