sorry if this has been done before, but I love hearing about people's favourite restaurants.

We don't mind doing a bit of travelling to get to a good restaurant or take away.... So please make your suggestions for Scotland here.

My favourite Indian is... Kebab Mahal, Nicholson Sq in Edinburgh. It is the BEST curries you will ever taste, really authentic. So much so, we avoid traditional take aways because they can never even come close to this place.
The tikka Masala is well recommended.

For Chinese Food I go to the Dragon Palace, Callander Road(I think) in Falkirk. much healthier take on our usual chinese cuisine. Must be tasted. Sesame chicken, salt and pepper chicken and the prawn cocktail recommended.

My favourite pizza would be from a place i think is called Jolly's, near the omni centre in Edinburgh. Along with an Italian take away on the main St in Callander.

There is a wonderful restaurant in Dundee - the Agacan on the Perth Road. It's the tiniest restaurant I've ever seen - about five tables, and the food is just amazing. Really gorgeous, stunning Turkish meals, and cooked right there in front of you, and really reasonable prices too. The chicken pilic special is just amazing. The place is decorated really unusually too - everything (and I mean everything - tables, chairs, every inch of wall, toilet cisterns, sinks, everything) is painted with weird swirly patterns and stuff. The ladies' toilet cistern is painted like a fish tank, with goldfish in it...

BEST food I've ever had out in a restaurant, and I've been lots of times and tried lots of things on the menu, and it's always been wonderful.

Battlefield Rest is one of my favourite restaurants in Glasgow, as is The Ubiquitous Chip.

Best in Britain, you mean. You wouldn't go 90 seconds out of the way for one that was the best in Biggar.

Travelled an hour to it last week!

My wife thought it was excellent.

I thought the fish was very very fresh, but the batter was too crispy - that's a personal thing though, I'm a soft batter man, me.

The chips were very good too.

Overall though, I prefer Anstruther.

I also thoroughly recommend this to everyone, except between 5:30-6.00 on a Thursday evening, when the food is rubbish, the service is sloppy and your fellow diners are boorish and hostile.

Or....Seruchi (opposite Festival theatre) ....not been here for a while though.

Modern - Maison Bleue - again in Victoria st (nice food and good looking staff also)

French - Petit Paris - grassmarket....the chocolate tart is out of this world.

Tai - Mai Thai (behind the Tun next to the Holyrood hotel).

I will be in one of these next week !

I've had some great Nepalese curries in the Khukuri in West Maitland Street, Edinburgh. Didn't have time to go last time so I hope it's still there - anyone know?

I have never had a bad experience with the food, but I can say that sometimes it is a little slow, but the reason being that it is very popular and they make the food from scratch.

Also, they are in desperate need of expanding as there are rarely a table free if you go at around 5 or 6.

But I guarantee that the food is excellent.

I love ichiban noodle cafe, it has two branches in glasgow - Queen street and Dumbarton Road.

I have never been to the Dumbarton Road one, but I would imagine that it would be to the same high standard.

A few great Indian restaurants in the West End of Glasgow...

Mother Indias Cafe on Argyle St

The wee curry shop on Ashton Lane

and for something a little healthier ...Balbirs on Church St

( note, Mother Indias Cafe does not take reservations and queues outside the restaurant are not uncommon )

AMAZING curries!! The Wee Curry Shop just feels special because it is so tiny too.

Occasionally have a meal in Edinburgh....Can't stand Indian as I can't stomach yoghurt.

Maxim, West Maitland Street - Small intimate Chinese restaurant with some great food. Just up for the Haymarket Pub

Dario's, Lothian Road - Great Italian, which is made even better that it is open until 5am Friday and Saturday. Also has a take away aside from the restaurant.

Inca, Bruntsfield Place - Tiny little Italian restaurant, had a great meal there, service was excellent. They even made the OH's Risotto how she wanted it.

If your unlucky enough to be passing Livingston, check out....

Da Vinci Hotel, Livingston - Italian restaurant, which has become one of our favourite places when dining out. Family run, with a great atmosphere and food.

I was joking. That is the time I am always there, and I don't want any more competition for a place.

Japanese/Thai place on Candlemaker Row, called Tang's, I think. Just opened before Christmas and it's so lovely, the staff and food are just fabulous.

Cantina Mexicanta - little Mexican on Rose street. Lunch menu is great value, and their fajitas are so spicy and gorgeous.

I'm sorry, my miserable life means that I don't 'get' jokes any more!

I'll bet I've been there at the same time as you at some point we're always there.

Went to the Townhead Cafe (UKs Best Chippy) on sunday night. It was 20 mins to get served, but it was worth it when we received a big portion of fish and chips each.

Chips were chunky and not to my taste, but fish was lovely. Really tasty and fresh.

Would definitely recommend.
