You wouldn't think these later became Doves

I was going to post Cedar Room, but on retrospect, that was 2000. Bugger!

The songs from each year of the 1990s which was number 1 on this very day (3rd Feb) All of which with the exception of Blur (assuming they havent disbanded completely) are long gone.

1990 - Sinead O Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U - She had real tears you know!

1991 - The KLF featuring Children of the Revolution - 3AM Eternal - The following week Do The Bartman was number 1

1992 - Wet Wet Wet - Goodnight Girl The year that only had 12 different number 1's. Something we never see these days!

1993 - Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You Despite being Xmas No1, this song was number 1 for 9 weeks, the next number 1 was 2 Unlimited's No Limit

1994 - D Ream - Things Can Only Get Better Second time this was released, this time it really did get better for them. Well up until Labour used it as their anthem!

1995 - Rednex - Cotton Eye Joe I will put my hands up, I did buy this! The following day, the number 1 was Celine Dion's Think Twice.

1996 - Babylon Zoo - Spaceman Whatever happened to them!

1997 - Blur - Beetlebum - This was their second number 1.

1998 - Usher - You Make Me Wanna - Good job it wasn't the next number 1 which was Aqua's Doctor Jones

1999 - The Offspring - Pretty Fly (for a white guy) - A-ha A-ha!

Those acts aren't exactly "long gone". Sinead O'Connor had a good single with Ian Brown last year called 'Illegal Attacks'. I've never liked Wet Wet Wet, but they had a top ten single in February. Usher has probably had more hits this decade than he had in the '90s, and The Offspring have a new album due out this year.

Anyway, back on topic- this track came up on my iPod shuffle today.
