From their wonderful album; Diary, this was top drawer alternative rock out of Seattle.”

Probably my favourite track by them:

Frances Nero - Footsteps Following Me (1991)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wpy3-a1W7G4

She recorded for Motown during the mid-60's but failed to make an impact - despite her track "Keep On Lovin' Me" being an absolute gem. When a second chance came in the early 90's, via Ian Levine and Motorcity records, Frances scored a UK Top 20 hit with the above song! Sadly, this long overdue success was never expanded.

It was done by Xenomania who have moved on from working for a bunch of untalented mingtrolls in skimpy clothing to Girls Aloud in the last ten years.

Space, Sleeper, Hole and Babes in Toyland were awesome. The Cardigans were, and still are

Wow, I'd forgotten even posting that

The cynic in me bites his tongue from saying 'not much progress at all then'

Err, err, better post something constructive..... anyone remember The Badgers on Wilde Records or Sulphur (High Chair EP). Oh, ok then.

Elastica, Dodgy, Sleeper, Echobelly......I could go on. Not saying these bands were amazing, but I adored the whole "britpop" era

Does anyone remember the name of the band whose biggest hit went something like, "....standing on a rooftop shoutin out, baby im ready to go...." It was a female lead singer and the song, I think, was called Ready to Go. Any ideas?

That was a very young Andy Bell (now of Oasis, not of Erasure) at the begining, and his follow up band Hurricane #1 had a few good songs too. Anyone remember this one?

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=cvbbsPTzpfA”

Just realised neither of these links are valid any more but I'm still on a one woman mission to make the world aware of the wonderful music of Mr Andy Bell so here is Ride's Vapour Trail (one of the best live performances I've heard- I wish I was old enough to have seen them in their prime), while here is Hurricane #1's Step Into My World live on TFI Friday (please dont be put off by the Liam clone, it is a really great song!). I still think Andy Bell has the voice and face on an angel!

Also, a request. This is a cracking tune by 100 Men, a skinhead ska band fronted by Babyshambles's Mik Whitnall. Does anyone know anything else about this band, or even what the song is called because I cant find any other songs by them which is annoying because I think they are great!

My favourite Geneva song is "In to the Blue" - a really perfect jangly upbeat track.

The singer from Geneva was doing the ID parade on "Never mind the Buzzcocks" a while back - oh well.

I remember White Town - it was a fairly big thing at the time, him being a guy who did it all from his home studio. The video was made in Derby city centre, the shopping centre used in it was demolished.

Anyone remember Joyrider's Rush Hour cover? I had the album, then used it to test a CD player I was selling on eBay, and left it in there...

MN8 were known for If You Would Only Let Me In. Natalie Imbruglia sang part of it on a quiz show in 1995 but may prefer to live this down! I forget the programme name but it was hosted by Mike Smith, and Ian Kelsey was in the same episode.

This was one of my fave no 1s of the decade. The sort of thing Kings of Leon would have done had they been around then.
