advice needed

i got a motorola k1 on contract with vodaphone.i never took insurance and cracked my screen then the screen went blank.vodaphone won,t fix it unless i pay them even know i have 8 months warranty left.Any way if i was to buy the same phone on payg vodaphone can i put my contract sim in it .

why would you think the warranty would cover repairs to a screen you say you cracked?

Any new Pay as You Talk phone will work with your SIM. You may have to use the settings to change the configuration to Pay Monthly. (Some settings are different for Pay as You Talk, but on many phones it is just a case of selecting the Configuration option in the menu.)

Beware of very old second hand Pay as You Talk phones, they may be locked to Pay as You Talk only. Vodafone will unlock it for you.
