Morissons Fruit and Veg
Gogfumble

What is it with Morrisons and their crappy fruit and veg?

I bought a net of mandarins last night, I checked the net aswell, to make sure there was none that looked rotten or mouldy and all was fine.

I have just opened it and 4 of them have gone mouldy overnight!

I always find the fruit and veg from Morrisons goes off a lot quicker than other places.

I never buy their fruit ever since I bought a mango and it was like wood inside and some strawberries tasted like ham!

A friend of mine works at Morrisons and apparently they only have a f&v delivery a couple of times a week, so a lot of the produce is in cold storage before it is put out, hence when it goes on the shop floor and heats up it starts to go off much quicker.

Really?

Even at Asda they have F&V deliveries daily.

I don't think I will be buying any from there again then. Which is a shame as its right by where I get the bus to/from work but the Asda is a good 20 minutes walk.

I NEVER buy F&V from Morrisons... in fact I rarely buy any F&V from anywhere other than my Organic Box but when I do I use Waitrose...

I find this quite often with Asda's fruit & veg too - and quite often it's starting to go rotten whilst on the shelf!

Best to go to a local greengrocer.

Yes Really, if you go into Morrissons first thing in the morning as soon as it opens you can find that some of the fruit & veg which has been put out is cold.

Now my nearest Morrisons (Mayo Ave Bradford) has great fruit and veg as does the one at Guiseley but our Tescos is skanky. Just goes to show they all vary.

Same here, but in canterbury. Morrisons is by far the cheapest and their produce is better than the other supermarkets in the area. Their nectarines are usually rubbish though.

Although I work at Morrisons, I'd never touch their produce with a barge pole. I've worked long enough at checkouts to get an idea of how bad it can be.

But I did recently buy some Fuji apples from there and didn't have a problem with them.

the morrisons i live near has deliveries of fruit and veg every night so ours is ok. as ive worked in morrisons and sainsburys unloading the lorries overnight i have always seen f&v deliveries every night of the week. you must be unlucky in what you are picking up.

I was back in Morrisons again yesterday to get some milk while I was waiting for the bus to come. As usual the fruit and veg is at the start of the store and at our one you have to walk through it to get to the rest of the store. Well, it absolutely stank of mouldy fruit! It hit me when I went in and you could smell it everywhere.

I wasn't the only one to notice either, a woman was having a complain at one of the shelf stacker's about the smell, he didn't seem to care though.

Having shopped in M for a number of years now, i have to concur that their F & V is not of the greatest quality i tend to whack it all straight in the fridge when i get home. Since i've done this i find it last far longer than it otherwise would.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has found this with their fruit and veg. Everything goes off very quick and it tastes nasty (Asda is just as bad). Never buy their pre-packed stuff - the lettuce is foul. I think most of it is sub-standard rubbish that the other stores won't buy. Try buying from Sainsbury's and compare the difference ... albeit it costs more.

Unfortunatly there isn't a Sainsbury's near me. All I have close is an Asda and Morissons and as I don't drive have no chance of getting to somewhere there is one. I wouldn't mind paying more for it if it was going to last a bit longer.

I won't use the localish Morrisons. I drive past it and on for a couple of miles to get to Sainsburys. I find everything is much better there. I won't shop where I llive because we only have a smallish Somerfields on the other side of thetown, and their prices are terrible.

I was forced to shop there about 3 weeks ago when the road to Sainsburys was closed by flooding. £1 extra on my normal bottle of wine, and 35p on a litre on vegetable oil. I think their selection is poor and their prices high.

It's a 25mile round trip to get to Sainsbury's, but personally thinking it's worth it.
