Inexpensive home cinema speaker setup
Hi,
My current setup at home is a panasonic viera 42" plasma, SKY HD, XBOX 360 and an Archos PVR for playing back DivX stuff. To get the most out of the setup i am considering getting a home cinema system so that i can experience surround sound etc. Not really interested in a DVD player as its not too often (well never to be honest) that i buy/play DVD's. Can anyone recommend a relatively inexpensive speaker setup. Cheers |

£200 will get you an entry model system from Richer Sounds.
For this you will get an AV Receiver and 5.1 speaker package. This will cater for all your needs at present and for a limited number of upgrades for the future. You will be able to upgrade each component separately if you feel the need at a later date. Models you need to be looking at are.... Denon AVR1507 or Yamaha RXV361 Yamaha NSP100 (speakers) http://www.richersounds.com/productl...up=AVRECEIVERS http://www.richersounds.com/showprod...id=YAMA-NSP110 |

Plasma TV & HD box. You have some Qty kit. Dolby surround is just fantastic and worth spending the right amount of money on instead of a budget sytem being married to a good TV and Sky reciever.
If at all possible If I were you i would save and wait untill I could afford something differrent to that of a budget system. No need to go over the top with Digital recievers or speakers but budget sytems could mean you are missing the point of having Dolby surround. optical connection are vital for top quality clarity....Good luck.... |

Personally I can highly recommend a set of Canton's. If you look on AVForums they have a 'powerbuy' on the speakers forum where you can get significant discounts and the kit is excellent.
I would agree that it's best to buy the most expensive kit your budget will allow but sometimes the budget doesn't allow very much! was looking for a budget setup myself (and small speakers due to room size!) so I have a set of Canton Movie 60CX (5.1) with a Sony STR DG910 (approx £400 for the lot). That handles the Sky HD box and DVD player inputs very nicely. It's night and day when you get the full surround sound going Good luck getting the system sorted. |
