Need Help - Cannot Connect to the Internet
Nurse M
30-01-2008
Hiya, I've got this new phone called the Nokia 6300 and I'm been trying to connect to the Vodafone live internet service and I can't. Instead it gives me this messege

'Packet data Connection not avaliable, Link not Avaliable'

I do not understand why that is showing, Although I have set up my phone internet to 'Wap' and I've unblocked the internet access so It should be working.

Help!

Do you mean you have had the Vodafone settings sent to your phone? Does this mean the phone was originally on another network? Or SIM free?
I'm not sure what unblocking the internet access is about.
Hopefully some general advice will help. Is there a little G or E next to the battery symbol? If there isn't or they have a line through them then it means that the Internet is not available, probably temporarily.
You could try turning off the phone, taking out the battery and waiting ten minutes before putting it together again.
Have the Vodafone settings sent to you. I would get Vodafone to do this, and make sure you get Pay as You Talk or Contract settings as appropriate. Make sure you answer Yes to the question about activating them in all applications.
If all else fails then ask politely in a Vodafone shop for them to set it up for you. Hope this helps.

There are a few reasons why you may be getting this error so I will explain each in turn.

Firstly you could simply be in an area that does not have any GPRS (data) coverage.
This would give you the error message you received. Click Here see our coverage checker to see if you have coverage.

Secondly the settings you have on the handset could be incorrect.
There are a few ways you can correct this. You can go to the Nokia Web site and send the correct settings, Click Here to go to the relevant section

Alternatively you could call Vodafone Customer Services who will be more than happy to send these settings to your phone for you.
You can also put these settings into your phone manually by following the guide I have added at the end of this post.

Thirdly you might not have GPRS setup on your Vodafone account. Call Customer Services on 191 from your mobile phone or 08700700191 from a landline. Any of our agents will be happy to enable GPRS on your account if it is not switched on.

I hope this information was useful and resolved your query.

Thanks
