Upgrading from SE K800i on Orange

I have a SE K800i on Orange and as I am coming to the end of my 18 month contract, I have been offered an upgrade, none of the phones that were offered really took my fancy. However the orange helpline advisor recommended the LG Viewty - but told me it is out of stock - this was a couple of weeks ago - I phoned a few days ago and was told it was outta stock.

Does anyone here work for Orange and know when they will be back in stock?

Is it possible to be an Orange direct customer and upgrade through CPW ? - would you get the same sort of deals? (I have read on here that you can get unbranded unmodified phones from CPW)

Also, is it worth getting the LG Viewty? - the new SE was also recommended (forgotten the model but it was higher than my current K800i) as well the original Nokia N95.

I have never had an LG phone before - so not sure what to expect...

There are no supply problems with the Viewty in Orange retail. Just go to your local shop. The SE you were pointed in the direction of is the K850i. I'd stay clear, it's very buggy.

The first ones were as I had to send mine back but mine and the missus work perfect now so they have sorted that out.

We're hardly selling any to be honest. At least Orange users can update the phone's software from the handset.

Its def worth going to CPW for an unlocked and unbranded handset. I got a better price on the handset that Orange Retail offered me, but I am not sure if that was an error or not!

thanks for the replies, Orange called me today to inform me that they have the Viewty in stock and I should have it by Monday. I'll see how I get on with it.... hope its as good as the reviews I have read ....

Why on earth didn't you do the upgrade instore? At least you could have tried the handset first!

I can send the handset back if I don't like it, none of the ones they mentioned really caught my attention, and I have seen the LG Viewty instore- but trying out a phone in a store and actually messing about with one for a few days is different - to me at least.

I'll see how I get on with it- if I don't like it I'll send it back.

When buying a phone direct with Orange, you are automatically covered by the 7 Day Money Back policy (28 Days if faulty). If within those 7 Days you change your mind, you ring Orange who authorise the original handset to be returned and send you a Jiffy bag to return it in. You are then put back through to Sales/Upgrades to order another phone. You can still use the old one till the new one arrives, as we give you 30 days in which to return it. So you are never without a phone.

And Direct the K850i is one of our top selling handsets - the firmware updates on the newer phones worked wonders and the return rate is significantly lower.
