What sort of stuff do you want to find exactly?

What genre, time period etc.

I have these smart playlists:

* Short songs. Between 2:00 - 3:00 in length

* Remixes. Song name contains 'Remix'

* Rotation. Song rating is 3 stars or higher, and hasn't been played in the last month. Keeps an eye on favourites not recently heard.

* Track 10s. Why not set up a playlist that selects the tenth track from albums. They tend to be quite good!

* Then there are the usual "maintenance" playlists like 'Unrated', 'Unplayed', and 'songs without a year'.

I have also created normal playlists with names such as "Adult Contemporary", "Love Songs", "Gym Mix" and "Party Time".

I made a 'Names' playlist when I found that 38 of my songs are named after someone (e.g. 'Jolene', 'Grace Kelly', 'Mickey', 'Alfie')

With any of these, if you burn CDs for the car, create a playlist limited to 79 minutes and enjoy your trip!

I like the idea of short songs as I love to cram in loads while I commute. And I think I'll have a go at the randon tenth track from an album

Apropos of nothing, I really *hate* the way itunes catalogues 'years' of songs. It comes up when doing the Music Quiz on the Ipod Nano. It'll say 'this masterpiece, 'Is There Something I Should Know' by Duran Duran was released in 2004 - True or False'. Obviously, I say false, because it is an eighties track... but the quiz says - TRUE! Simply because a remastered version of the CD happened to be released four years ago. What's the point of a stupid quiz like that? It's just a guessing game... only a complete music nerd would keep track of re-mastered re-release dates to be able to keep up with this quiz...

Oh, and by the way, back on-topic, I have playlists that remind me of specific people, like fondly remembered ex-girlfriends (only one or two of those! ), my mad brother who lives in Holland, close friends etc.
