A Perfect Pop Song
What songs would you class as a perfect pop song?
Don't Go by Yazoo is so simple but so fantastic. Is that the key, get a good catchy hookline and keep it basic? |

I would say that Heart of Glass by Blondie is pretty much perfect as a pop song

I always thought "If I Can't Change Your Mind" by Sugar was pretty close to perfect for a 3m20s instantly accessible jangly guitar song.

I always liked Shanice 'I Love Your Smile', or Shannon's 'Let The Music Play' = Perfect pop!

We tend to forget that The Beatles were a great pop group before they went all arty-farty..............

I'm gonna get slated for this, but I'll also nominate Crazy In Love by Beyonce. Possibly the perfect, 21st Century Pop Song. The vocals are great, unusually for a song like this the rapping actually enhances it - especially where Jay Z announces her at the beginning, like some sort of Royal Proclamation - and it has one of the best 70s Soul samples ever used. It certainly introduced me to the Chi-Lites, a great group I knew nothing about up to that point. |

This is ABC's best in my view, great pop and a great video.
http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...-near-me_music And this from Go West is classic pop with a great vocal although Peter Cox seems to have had some kind of shaving accident in the video ![]() http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance...-call-me_music |

Speaking of the Beatles, I think the ultimate pop song is In My Life. Lyrically not the normal song most songwriters were writing at the time either.
