Hello

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 741MP. I am really happy with it as the screen is brilliant and gives a wonderful picture. I have read a lot on here about the sound being rather bad on Samsung TVs. You're right, it is!! I have noticed that sometimes one of the speakers in the set will just cut out and the only way to get it working again is to put the balance over to the duff speaker and turn the sound up full!! has anyone else had this problem? If you have then how have you solved this?

This is the second set that I have had and it's done it on both sets so I have accepted it.

People on here have spoken about adding other speakers to their LCD TVs. I would like to do this. How have other people gone about it? Through the headphone socket?
I have my DVD recorder connected to my hi fi and I can watch the tv with good sound through this but I don't really want to turn my DVD recorder on every time I just want to watch TV.

If you could tell me how you have connected your LCD TV to some speakers that would be great.

Thank you very much.

You can get all in one 5.1 speaker setups from your high street now, saw one in Comet for £150, you connect your Sky box to the amp and that's that.

My Samsung has an audio optical out socket I think, again you can connect that to an amp and speakers. Personally I have my PC connected to mine, use the 5.1 speakers I got with that for movies and such.

Hi
I have a samsung 40" LCD TV this is great, but mine is connected to a Panasonic Home Theater with five speaker.

But now I have a SKY HD box which has optical connection but infortunately my home theater does not.

So are you saying you can get a speaker set up from comet with amp that has opitcal connection, can you please tell me which model you are talking about, so that I can have a look, do you think this might be the option for me?

Thanks

Sounds like you have a dodgy TV, rather than the usual disappointment at Samsung audio.

Like the OP, I recently purchased a Samsung(sorry, I don't know the model - it's 40" and Currys were pushing it at front of store), and was appalled at how poor the sound quality was. I swear the 19" Bush I have in the bedroom has better sound. The picture is excellent, though, which is why I've kept it. I've rigged up a cheapy Home Cinema System to compensate for the tinny speakers - not that I should have to. I still have another 2 weeks, should I decide to go back to the store and change it, trouble is I've stuck it on the wall without really checking it out first.

It's only from reading these forums that I've found it to be a common problem with Samsung's.

Downwards pointing cheap speakers, with 2/3rd's of the cone blanked off - it's really amazingly poor!.

I have a LE40M87BDX (40") and the sound is very good on all inputs.

Just purchased a 22" 225MD for use with the computer, the sound from analogue TV is good, from Freeview is very quiet, 100% is still not loud enough.

Also PIP when using the DVI input is limited to Analogue and Ext, No freeview, come on Samsung, sort it out!!!!

I dont want to use analouge.

Will have to add an ext decoder at this rate and I bought this TV to avoid this. Not very happy but nothing else on the market.

Samsung sacrificed the sound for looks....I have an older version with proper speakers and the sound is good.

If it was the fault of the speakers all sound would be rubbish.

As I said the analogue sound is good.

The level from Freeview is low. Points to a problem with the freeview output to the speakers.

I have a Samsung and the sound is excellent! I don't need to buy any fancy extra gizmos.

It is so loud and clear,I only need to have it on a low volume setting.

This applies to the 225MD not the LE40M87BDX, that's excellent.

Same here, i only usually have it on volume level 15 and its loud enough. i think it goes upto level 40.

I have 2 Samsungs, a 225 MD & an LE26R74BD.
The LE26 has excellent sound volume, the 225MD is totally unsuitable for normal room use, it's just about OK for bedroom use. As previously mentioned the analogue sound is better but we don't use analogue.

I have also recently purchased a 32'' Samsung - I think the model ends in BDX or something.....

....anyway - when I first connected it to my Virgin cable box via scart - only 1 of the speakers on the tv would work!!! i racked my brains trying to figure it out....

.....after checking all the connections & settings on the TV ( I'de unplugged and repluged in cables to make sure the leads were all connected ok) and the cable box - I could just not figure this out so came to the conclusion that the tv must be faulty.

Then - one evening - don't know why, but I just decided to unplug the scart lead from the tv and the cable box, and switch the ends around - so the end which was originally plugged into the tv - I plugged into the cable box - and the end which was in the cable box - I plugged into the tv.......

......GUESS WHAT - THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM.....!!!!
