The BBC don't 'bump the licence fee, it is set by the Government.

Yes, that sounds likely.

Yes, which is probably why the BBC has to send letters out to people pirating its content on a daily basis. The fact is, the BBC HAS to protect its copyrights, or it risks loosing them.

The fact that they release clips on YouTube is surely better than nothing.

The right to parody is protected, and isn't in the same league as just 'stealing' material.

I don't see why people who don't work on the show / for the BBC would defend the BBC's limiting of our ability to watch short clips of their show now and again for reference.

Maybe because they have more than a tentative understanding or appreciation of the practicalities and legalities of the situation? Or maybe because they too are free to express an opinion?

Yes, but if the BBC aren't bothered (they may be I didn't really read the first post or link properly) then why are you?

1) Perhaps you should actually read the first post and link properly

2) I have an opinion.

3) I also have an appreciation of the reasons that copyright exists, and why such laws and agreements should be upheld.

4) This is a discussion forum when you are quite likely to read views that are not the same as yours. Sorry about that.

5) Why make it personal by questioning someone's motives just because you disagee with them

Surely 10 second clips doesnt hurt! Someone cud see it by offchance and think wow they looks good must guy some of these and then they buy them. Its good publicity! Yes full episodes is pirating but just a 10 sec clip dont hurt .

BBC anti-piracy is clamping down. The same goes for HARRY POTTER (Warner Brothers) video clips too.

Perhaps, fan websites could avoid BBC action by removing all material.

Please, DOCTOR WHO fans should avoid giving "site traffic" to these sites.

Polite notice.”

someone should have a word with EOH about this then as they seem to be using material on their site.

Well, until someone manages to eliminate inflation, you can hardly blame them for that.

And as far as I recall, the bumping is rarely if ever the size requested.

That's true. If left to their own devices, the BBC would bump the bump!
