After going several days without any email I am now receiving over 200 -300 spam emails every day. They go into my spam box but sometimes other mail gets lost there. I am now transferring my mail to googlemail where I never seem to get spam. Does everyone else have problems with homechoice email? Why do they not have proper spam filters so I dont have to do the filtering for them?

I too have been getting more and more spam. It's almost as if the Homechoice email servers have been set up and left as if in their factory configuration. You'd think it would be in Tiscali's interest to set things up to minimise the amount of spam, wouldn't you? Also they offer spam filtering on @tiscali.co.uk addresses so why not shift the Homechoice email addresses onto the same system? I suppose that's all in the pipeline for when they migrate everyone.

I get one or two spam emails a day. I think the problem is the spammers have got hold of your address.

I never sign up to web sites with my important email addresses or allow it to be seen on any website or forum, I use Hotmail or yahoo and let them get spammed.. which they do.

If they had got hold of my address then why do they not use it as it is rather than endless variations of xyz.hayden@homechoice.co.uk? I use my googlemail address just as much on line but I dont see any spam. Google must have better spam filters and so why cant homechoice/tiscali use them?

I object to being told that somehow this is my fault.

I've had a big increase in spam to my Homechoice address recently. I changed my forums, eBay and PayPal addresses to a different ISP and am getting none on that, and spam that arrives into my GMail account (yet another address) gets directed straight into their spam folder - why can't Homechoice/Tiscali do that?

I'm sick of getting all these s!ck emails - you know what I mean My Blocked Senders List must be overflowing, and it seems that I sometimes accidentally block a bona fide sender - but anyway I don't think blocking achieves anything, they all come from different email addresses.

Are you a homechoice customer or tiscali?

I have no idea why you receive none.

I have been with homechoice for many years with no spam at all.
Since Tiscali have taken over, i am swamped with spam. I never use my hc email address so i know its not my fault(I use hotmail for forums etc) It appears to me that Tiscali have no spam filters what so ever

Thank god for windows mail and its spam filter

Given that most of the latest spate of spam I've been receiving for a month or two could be called "obscene" (OK, it's just subject headings like one received today "Ever been ashamed of the size of your d***", but what if I were an 8-year-old?), I wonder if Tiscali could be breaking the law or some internet convention in facilitating, or at least not hindering, its delivery?

Clutching at straws, I know, but couldn't we persuade Tiscali that they are obliged to act?

Yep, me too, absolute deluge of spam (up to 70 messages per day) in the last few weeks. This is after being with homechoice for almost 7 years and *never* getting spam before. It's really rubbish spam too, the sort that gmail knocks for 6 with no effort at all.

I am very careful about whom I share these email details with as it is my family account - so I'm feeling very cheesed off.

Thats the point, Tiscali are not obliged to help. Do you expect the Post Office to withhold junk mail?

Having said that, this maybe another example of Tiscali removing a service that they are not contractually obliged to provide. In another thread I've asked what they can remove - web page access, email they probably feel that they don't have to provide it. If they can save more money from removing services than they will lose from customers leaving then this is what they will do. Tiscali's policy seems to to drive away as many customers as possible by providing the poorest quality service they possibly can, they want to be profitable above all else.

The target customers will be people willing to pay the lowest possible price but those people will ideally only use the internet a hour a day for simple web browsing and a few emails. I've been a big supporter of HC over the years (how many times have I been accused of being a HC or Tiscali employee) but I've completely changed my mind, a company like Tiscali who hates their customers and wants to drive them away is absolutely no use to anyone.

My advise is to change your ISP, I had great hopes for IPTV but I can't imagine Tiscali will do anything but destroy that too.

Yep, me too. Within the last four weeks, I have also started receiving spam emails. I currently receive around three a day. I joined Homechoice three years ago. I never had this problem until now. I believe I always give out my email addressees responsibly.
