i got my phone with a free xbox360 / 12 month contract £60 a month on o2, in nov 06 thru onestopphoneshop.com / carphone warehouse. after 6 month i downgraded to £40 / month (600m/500t)

then in nov 07, my 12 month with the was up and just now i had some bloke ringing me from cpw, saying its a courtesy call, trying to get me to take up an upgrade / offer. i told him to ring me back

I told him basically i would accept no less than the same tarrif i am on, 12 months, free n95. he said they cant do that it will cost me £120 odd quid.

he came out with allsorts and i think he is trying to pull a fast one, he kept offering me this that n t'other. From sim only 12 mo/ £20pm cashback contract (i thought there was no contract on sim only) to an 18 month vodafone n95 at £40 pm

anyway, i just been on 02 and i can get eaxctly what i want - £40 pm, more t&m, free n95...

SInce then as well, ive noticed the n82 and i like the look of it (i mainly use the camera features anyway on my phones) and i can get one of those free on o2 website!!!

i am wondering, am i now free from cpw?
are they trying to con me into getting a fresh tarriff and are they trying to con me in to a more expensive one?
is o2 the best deal out there for 12month contracts?
can anyone point me in the direction of a good deal which can beat £40 month, 600m / 1000t, free n95 or n82, 12 month?

edit - having just read some other threads, i think i will be much better off ringing o2 and gong through them? whats the best deal do you reckon i could get? could i beat the website offer?

Tell them you want to leave, you'll be put through to retentions who will get you the best deal possible.

Though don't be blinded by numbers. Do you use more than 600 minutes and 1000 texts? If not, then it's the price you want not the extra stuff. Seems to me that's a good deal.

it was cpw who phoned giving me offers. DO i need to tell them im leaving or am i better going direct to o2?

no, on my last bill (600m/500t) i used 170m/388t, but the o2 website only starts at the £40 tarif

hiya

i went into town and went to cpw shop and same story as what the bloke said on the phone - n95 or n82 £200

so i went 3 doors down to o2 and i gave them my number and they said im not with o2, im with cpw...

anyway to cut a long story short, i got a n82 on £40 tariff for 12 months and told the bloke from cpw to cancel my contract with them and send me a pac code hahahahahaaaaaa

now i got to work out how to use the sat nav!

well i just rang up cpw and asked for my pac code and the bloke said he could match it and about 6 times i had to tell him i wasnt interested because i was peeeeed off at cpw with all the crappy offers that they tried it on with. he said he could do the same offer, if i just went back to o2 and gave them back the phone. i said "why would i want to waste time and go to someone who didnt mess me around and knock them back and stay with you lot who have done nowt but try and con me."

honest he wasnt listening... he could have given me 6 month contract half price line rental and id have said no.

anyway, he said i have to write to them, giving them 30 days notice... so i guess im going to have double phone tarriff next month, once with o2 and once with cpw, oh well...

does anyone know if they accept emai?

Carphone whorehouse only terminates with written notice.
Write to them stating you wish to cancel and send it to them recorded delivery, so they cant say you didnt send it.

state in your letter that you want a PAC code, they should send you a letter back with it on.

Then once you have it, you can walk into any O2 shop where they will sort you out

That's quite bad. I mean, it is that guy's job to keep you - which is why he'll offer you the best deals, and it's why you should always say you're leaving when it's up for renewal. But still, no is no and they should accept that. If they'll only take it in writing, he simply has to say so.
