That's really confusing. Whatever way you look at this. This is very bad for Rhydian.

Either it's untrue, as ALW suggests or there were talks....that are no more?

would he not have heard him at the auditions for joseph?
...or was it an apparition he saw before him?

Well, it's all very weird, isn't it? How can ALW say this...when he had appeared to have supported Rhyd before? Backtracking? But why?

Must admit....Rhyd NOT doing the Phantom is a genuine disappointment. I had no interest whatsoever in any CD of Rhyd's - but I was up for him on stage. I thought that was his 'thing', really.

He has never said it was a done deal.

I find it difficult to believe that Rhydian would say such things if there was no truth in it at all ... especially in Hello magazine.

The Sun are using one quote and making a big headline out of it and not explaining the quote any further. They don't even say what question ALW was asked.

For all we know he could have been asked if it was definite that Rhyd would play Phantom and as auditions haven't taken place yet ALW could have answered “I wouldn’t have thought so. I’ve never heard him sing". When someone goes for an audition for a part they are sent to "sing" for the role, so ALW could be refering that Rhyd hasn't sung for him for the role.

If in fact the article is true and ALW means that he has never heard Rhyd sing, then it says a lot about the recorded message of support he sent to Rhyd on the finals night when he told him "Rhyd mate" you would make a fantastic Phantom and what a journey he has been on throughout the show. How would he know if he hadn't heard him sing?

http://www.stage6.com/X-Factor-2007/...F-Final-Part-3

ALW actually says

"Rhydian mate, wow, what a journey, it's fantastic the way you've come through this competition, I wish you all the very best tonight. OK you might not have been the greatest ever Joseph, but I'll tell you something you could be a fantastic phantom"

I'm in complete agreement and it seems as odd as a bucket of frogs, this one.

Rhyd did seem 'almost' sure of this and has mentioned the 'talks' with ALW many times. Very odd.

I can only think this is a backtrack - since ALW MUST have known about Rhyd. But why would he backtrack?

True, same could be said for all the celeb supporters and guest on the show they could all just be being nice.

I do find it very strange that ALW has not heard him sing when I know for a fact that he has had contact with Rhyd throughout the show ... strange.

Ah, you just couldn't wait to start this thread could you.

OK, let's get this straight, one quote (potentially a misquote) in The Sun - hardly the most reliable of sources and all of a sudden he is 'NOT' doing the show. Why then did ALW appear on TV to say he'd make a fantastic Phantom? Why was he in constant contact with Rhydian thoughout the show (Louis made reference to this on one of the live shows), why was he having telephone conversations with Rhydian post-XF? Did Rhydian imagine all of this too? And did ALW do a special arrangement of POTO for Rhyd to perform and then not bother to watch him perform it?

Oh no, The Sun never gets their facts wrong... Here they are yesterday reporting that Rhydian received an 'honorary' degree when in fact he received a 1st class honors degree. Bit of a difference:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle747721.ece

But I guess that has to be true too because it was reported in The Sun.

I think The Sun have it in for him to be honest, I've seen a few articles now where they keep calling him an "oddball". Probably just trying to create some negative press.

Why would he say that then? It seems pretty odd of The Sun to misrepresent someone to that degree.

But Zip didn't start the thread lol. And RATs are always quick to make new threads on positive Rhyd press.

lol ... pretty odd for the Sun to misrepresent someone ... now I bet that hasn't happened before

also ... listen to Dannii's comments after the Phantom performance

"after his first performance Andrew Lloyd Webber agreed to change that song into a solo artist for this man"

Are you trying to tell me that an article like that in the sun about Leon and no RAT would post it, sorry i find it very difficult to believe.
No, it was a lot more negative than the article in The Sun, and yes, not one of us posted it.

ALW may not be doing anything ... the article in the Sun is maninly about ALW's new Oliver show. There is just one "quote" from ALW and the sun don't even say what the exact question he was asked was, yet they make a headline out of it.

How do we know that ALW actually said that and in what context he said it.

It is The Sun after all and they never make anything up.

is the mariah duet true?
Who knows as there has been no official announcement, but it was common knowledge when Rhyd first signed that a duet with a mega star was on the cards.
