Hi all, I am looking for a 42" screen to run my PS3 and Sky HD box. I am looking at spending £800. Maybe a tad more? I currently have a 32" samsung LCD which I'm very happy, but I need a bigger telly for my main living room. I do tend to watch alot of HD content, so was thinking that LCD would be better.

Can someone suggest a good make/model that they have got and have been happy with the results? I would like to go for 1080P but not sure if I have much choice for that budget?

Thanks guys and gals.

I'd recommend my own telly, which I got Christmas 2006: Sony Bravia KDL 40W2000, which is a 40" screen, full HD, 2 HDMI and can be obtained for £880. Obviously it's last year's model which is reflected in the price. The only feature it lacks is 1080p24 (which gets the best from Blu Ray movie watching). There is now 40W3000, which adds that feature, but the price of that model is much higher.

sorry for adding to this, hope you don't mind but does anyone have an idea what the cheapest 1080P LCD TV is that, like mrbriggs will PS3, Sky HD box and PC (for HD content). Do full HD LCDs start at 37"+?

On what basis?

Plasma has a better contrast ratio, lowest response times and many screens are available in Full HD resolution.

Don't choose on the basis it's a plasma or an LCD, choose on the basis of performance and value.

Having said that for £800 it's true that you search may be limited to LCD's.
