I can press any key to cancel the alarm where it goes into snooze

Unless i have a new message (i get bank statements overnight) - then I can't cancel the alarm (at 6:30 a.m.) GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

instead the stupid phone prompt to unlock and read the message - i have to unlock the phone - read the message - reset the alarm to shut it up - this a.m. i couldn't find the unlock key - double grrrrrrrrrr

this is a problem with my shiny new W880i and not a problem with my 3 year old K700i

Any one else got this problem and is there a cure?

If it was me, I would turn the phone off overnight. SonyEricsson phones will sound the alarm without turning the phone on. Then when you are awake, you can turn it on and receive the messages.
Or you could put it into Walkman Only mode, the alarm will still sound the phone side will be off, then when you are awake change to phone mode and receive your messages.

I've got the W880i. When my alarm sounds in the morning, if I have a text message the alarm screen over-rides the message and I just press snooze?

Which firmware do you have?

i notice it's not just a message - it's now 'an event!' - and an event screen is on top

P.S. i can't beleive it - whilst looking for my firmware version - i founds a 'new events' option - i switched it from 'menu' to 'pop-up' - hopefully it will work properly now
