Nokia 6120 as modem to my laptop
I have just received a 6120 (on 3) and would like to use it as a modem to my laptop. The Nokia documentation doesn't really explain how to achieve this. Can anyone who has done this please explain. eg. as basic as do I connect via USB or Bluetooth.
I have a further problem that my laptop is a Mac, however I am hopeful of implementing it via a Windows Virtual Machine. |

I'm not too sure but i think that set up would cost a lot in call charges,,Why don't you get a wireless dongle from 3, Plugs into a USB port and is cheaper,£10 a month i think.

If you download the latest software suite from Nokia it'll automatically set itself up for you. I'd recommend using a USB cable as bluetooth can be a bit hit and miss.
It really is a case of plugging it in, running the software and you're up and running. But I agree with the above, get their data plan which will save you a lot of money. And ignore anyone who says you have to use 3's USB modem (I hate that f'ing stupid word 'dongle'), I've been accessing the web with a K800i perfectly well for a while now. |

I've never needed to enter those settings - I just select 'connect' and it works. You could try getting them from a 3 store? Failing that you could call up their customer service. Yeah yeah I know it's in India but don't let that put you off, they have improved greatly.

My 3 plan includes 1Gb data

I did run that and hit a problem when it asked me for username, password and (I think) APN. I assume there are generic settings for these. I was using the USB cable, as likewise I don't trust Bluetooth.

Is that for browsing on your phone or using your phone as a modem? Three offer differant price plans for each and apparently are strict over using phone browsing plans for modem use.

No not generic but specific to each network and sometimes different for PAYG and contract, for Three:
APN: three.co.uk Username:blank Password: blank Phone number: *99# When I said generic I meant in the sense that it wasn't a username/password specific to me. |
