id imagine there would have been demand for at least 1 gig per country..just the cost of flying to China, Japan etc for just 1 gig at a time would be huge.

there perhaps wasn't the demand for several gigs, so it's been deemed unworthile

Plus I would imagine that their contracts don't go beyond the end of February, as I suppose nobody pictured the tour lasting after then.

The original tour was 2 months so its already stretched.

Badly worded statement doesn't help - it looks like they decided to stop quite suddenly without knowing what might happen next and that means its all very negative even if the intention is to stop and then do some more some other school holiday. Its vague when it explains and when it suggest they will be back.

Its odd though because they had enough demand for Australia according to the reports of how much was on offer, there was more of the US to do (South and West) and they could easily have done more in Europe and the UK. Enough demand for March and April I should think. You can see why some countries would fall out or be too difficult to book when the original dates were taken up by London but not the whole lot.

It looks like someone has said no to going on (assuming the report is not a hack of their site) . You wonder who? Mel C looks like she was having a good time and she was doing her solo gigs too so what else could she want. Its also her band so would she want to stop early or keep going for them? Geri has a book series out but not till May I read. Emma might have had another film offer or more likely be finding it difficult away from home with a new baby on tour. Mel B seems to be enjoying herself. Has Victoria been offered the job on Ugly Betty ? The specific reason they give on the site is that their kids need to go back to school (and presumably they won't leave the kids behind) - which is an argument that applies only to Mel B and Victoria.

Someone could be pregnant or there might be something wrong with someone close or someone is just fed up I suppose.

Its certainly shows they were not just in it for the money as they must have turned down a few more million by stopping. Looks more likely they just can't juggle the children or careers and touring.

Spice Girls: cancelled tour

Led Zeppelin: 20 MILLION applications for just 18,000 tickets. A possible world tour with dates in the world's largest stadiums and arenas...

The moral of this story?... Talent and class LASTS.

Could be babies, husbands, parents, kids needing to go to school or other commitments - all of which apply most to Emma and Victoria..........or it could be what the Sun is saying that Mel C is sticking to the original contract for a short tour while everyone else wants to go on.......and on.

Their tour isn't cancelled. They havn't cancelled any dates that are on sale. They just won't be going to the places they originally planned at the beginning of the tour

True nothing was cancelled. They havn't even said they have finished the tour - just this stage of it. What they havn't said is that there will be another stage or whether it will be in the next school holidays or in 2017.

Its one of those cases where adding something that might not be true in the event might be better and even more accurate than saying something may turn up. If they had said due to family and other commitments we can't lengthen this stage past February but we are looking into the possibility of resuming later, it would have been much clearer and they would have had the same get out if they needed it that they couldn't arrange it.

Mmm, talent and class. You mean the pathetic smackheads Plant and Page who slated Phil Collins for 'ruining' their set at Live Aid. Despite the fact they were both so out of it at the time, they didn't know what country they were in!

i agree, nothing was cancelled. Just plans were not to be met, and i think that after ticktes went on sale a few months before the UK gigs it was pretty obvious they wernt gonna do Asia - and Mel B on Al Murray stating its over after the US.

What they have done is hint to fans this is not the final end, so id imagine either a one-off goodbye gig in London - maybe 02 or Wembley, or a final release, i.e a download single - no pressure - of "Woman".

Okay, i no people, fans, go on about it all the time, but we know the newer version exists, and its a very popular song amongst die-hard fans, so i think it will see the light of day, it probs will follow in te footsteps of Headlines, and chart low, maybe #9, but it would be a nice present to the fans..

but like they say, "we'll see what happens next..."

The tabloids are making themselves look very silly. The Mail claims they have sold too few tickets. The Star thinks they have made too much because they have sold too many tickets and supports it with figures that would mean the tickets were £200 each. Neither tackles the issue of why they are not just doing more dates to make more money particularly as they seem to have decided against trips to Texas and California that would have been cheap to add. The Sun has Mel C refusing to go on beyond the contract for 3 months. The Mirror claims they have been fighting again.

Its quite obvious that one or some of them are just not prepared to go on into March. Who it is and why will presumably determine whether and when they start out again or not.

Latest tabloid perm - Mel B said no to extending because she wants to be with her husband and children (bit odd as they are touring with her - though hubbie may not want to do another couple of months) and has job offers after appearing on Dancing on Ice. Mel C wasn't too fussed about continuing....... In this one the two Mels agree though in the Mirror it was the two Mel's arguing..

A different story almost on every page.

Er, Page had kicked heroin in 1984, and Plant was never a heavy user and last did so on the 77 US tour.

The rather rough performance that day was simply down to a poor lack of rehearsal and Plants voice bring shot after a solo US tour. An out of tune guitar being handed to Page by a clearly clueless roadie to play Stairway didnt help either....

People do have off days, just listen to Duran Duran at Live Aid. Simon Le Bon sounds way out of tune when he is trying to sing.

kids and commitments

They all had kids and commitments before the tour started

Shame the whole circus isn't honest.

yeh the sun is saying sporty quit... i think its purley because to go to Asia/Oz its adding to the workload, and it will become more of a chore than fun then, look at Geri's timing in 1998...
