Hello! Iv gone and bought frying only chips without realising and I have no way of frying them. Will they be okay in the oven? Should I try using some oil in the oven too? What do I do?

You can just fry them in oil in a frying pan - don't leave the pan unattended though. Oil in a saucepan probably safer.

Well if you have no oil - you can just try them in the oven - what's the worst that can happen?

Having seen Gordon Ramsey cook wonderful chips (We tried them out) try this.

Defrost them, then par boil them. Gordon did his for 3 minss but they were quite chunky so if they are thin I would reduce the time.

Drain in a colander then douse with olive oil & season. ( he also added a tiny amount of chilly flakes)

Mean while have a baking tin getting very hot in the ovan.

When you are ready, remove the tin & poor on the chips. They should make a sizzling noise, then put back in the ovan until cooked.

Here is a You tube video link
. The chips are towards the end but you don't see him put them into the ovan until clip 2, but I am sure you know how to do that

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I tried putting them in the oven yesterday but they took an hour (im sure my oven is underpowered or something) and some had been dehydrated, so they were not that nice really.

But I will try the idea above with par boiling and oil that sounds like it could work!
