As the title says any recommendations based on below:

My contact with Orange is almost up and looking for a new mobile, I use the mobile for business so I’m not really bothered about costs and don’t mind moving to a different network.

Currently I’m on Racoon 35 which is 800 mins and 100 texts, this plan suits as I mainly use the phone for talking and don’t think I’ve ever used the 100 texts a month.

I have a Black Nokia 8800 Sirocco edition and looking for something equally as sexy looking

Listen to music a lot
I would like to pickup my emails
Occasional Internet browsing would be nice
Not bothered about quality of camera
Not bothered about GPS (have satnav in car)

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks in advance...

the P1 is a terrible phone to use, it looks good on paper as well.

I'd recommend the SE w960, its got a big screen and 8gb

The W960i IS available on Orange. But only in the generic variation which means at this moment in time only P4U have it for Orange, CPW don't as of yet I don't believe.

It's Ok, I don't mind moving to another carrier to get the phone I want.

Has anyone used any off the HTC mobiles, are they any good?

HTC make very good Smartphones and PDAs. They have also produced O2s XDA range, T-Mobile's MDAs and the Orange SPV range so if you have used one of those in the past you will have used one of their handsets or something very similar.

the XDA range are great, but my biggest complaint is that o2 rebrand it. If i had a choice of the HTC Touch Cruise or the XDA Orbit 2, id pick the HTC

I've ordered the HTC Tytn II as an upgrade from Orange (for free) and it is due to arrive tomorrow. I was a bit undecided about HTC as I'd never heard of them. I looked round on the Net and this HTC got strong reviews wherever I looked (I read about ten). I bought it via Orange direct so if I don't like it then I can cancel and return it within seven days.

They're going to include a 2Gig datacard, however if I keep the handset then I am likely to get an 8Gig card.

Apparently, the Touch Dual is good too.

I'll post more tomorrow/Thurs once I've had a proper play with the Tytn II.

LP.

That would be great as I like the look of that one. Looking on the Orange website they have it down as out of stock?

It's back in stock as of today. Just had a shipment of nearly 1K into Sales alone. So other departments should be getting them if not already.

I know they had it in stock yesterday as I got a text telling me to call in to finalise my upgrade. I was told they were working through a backlog of orders on the handset. It appears this one is very popular.

I'm still waiting on mine to arrive..

Well, I've had mine for about a day and my initial impression is that I will be sending it back within the next few days and cancelling my upgrade (I upgraded from SE W950i).

Firstly, it will not work with my PC which runs Vista (it did once, and partially, for five minutes!) and therefore this has limited significantly my ability to use the device and caused much frustration. The box states that it should work with Vista without any additional software.

Also, on the OS side, Windows Mobile is quite clunky and not very intuitive IMO. Part of this may be down to me being new to the OS, and I intend to persevere using it for a few days.

On the plus side, the handset has a lot of features and will be able to do much more with extra software.

The Orange 'Today' screen is awful, as usual.

I'll post more after the weekend.

Thanks for the info, I'm still undecided about which one to upgrade to. I look forward to your comments

I have made progress and managed to get Vista to recognise the device (you need to untick the 'advanced USB features' box on the connections tab within settings.

I've installed Skype and that appears to work well enough.

I've had a look round the Net and Line2 is not supported fully - which is a deal breaker for me.

I'm going to look round the net for installing the original HTC screens (the Orange one is awful).

I think I'm going to hold out for the SE W960 as there was another post on here saying it's going to be released on Orange in the next couple of weeks. I'd really like the N95 8GB but I have heard nothing about it being released.

Well, after spending more time customising the phone by way of downloading plug-ins and different software applications, the phone started to grow on me. I particularly liked being on MSN and Skype simultaneously and being able to do it anywhere. It seems Windows Mobile is infinitely customisable! Though, I still think in many ways WinMo can be very user-unfriendly.

Nontheless, I have cancelled the upgrade. The fact that this handset does not do Line 2 on Orange and that the battery doesn't last all day for me, mean that it is simply not of practical use for me.

I must say some of those phones announced today at the Mobile World Congress look very appealing!

I've had the HTC TyTN II for about 1 month now although it's called a Vario III on T-mobile, I think it's correct original name is HTC Kaiser.

I love the phone, too much to say what I like about it so would be quicker to say my dislikes:-

1. Screen resolution is only 320 x 240 which is a pain for web use and connecting remotely to other PC machines I have.

2. Camera has no flash, like you I was not to fussed by the 3 meg camera but no flash makes a huge difference to taking photo's in doors.

I owned a Pocket PC ages ago (paid £550) and now I have one built into my phone......... it now makes more sense.

Would I take it back...... NO!

I'm not a big texter but when I do the slide out qwerty keyboard makes it soo much more relaxing

I use it as a:-

Phone
PDA
Camera
Sat Nav (saves carrying my TT about)
TV (I use a Slingbox to watch my home PVR/DVR recordings and watch movies on the MicroSD card)
PC (web browsing/emails)
MP3 player

Hope this helps.
