T-Mobile better than Vodafone?

I've been with Vodafone ever since I got my first mobile phone in 1998 but it wasn't until today I realised how much cheaper T-Mobile is. If I use their Text Appeal tarrif it works out like this:

T-Mobile texts: 3p each
Vodafone texts: 12p each

T-Mobile picture texts: 20p
Vodafone picture texts: 40p

Calls are slightly more expensive than Vodafone when calling other networks but only by 5p per minute.

So are T-Mobile any good as I've never had any problems with Vodafone? I can also keep my existing mobile number if I switch.

I don't know about pay as you go but i have T-Mobile's Flex 20 which costs £15 and gives you £34 worth of credit a month to spend on calls, texts and picture messages. Being a relatively low user i find that just about enough. Also their web and walk package which gives you unlimited data transfer (internet, e-mail, mobile tv etc) for £7.50 a month is pretty good value as well.

Word of warning though; in my experience T-Mobile's network coverage is absolutely awful. I couldn't get a signal at my last house (outskirts of reading) and can only make phone calls in one part of this house (central reading). Connecting to the internet is also very hit and miss.

Ah, that was going to be another question of mine regarding coverage. We don't have many problems with Vodafone here in Norfolk.

Flext is a con, it only includes mobiles (07XXX) and landlines (01XXX/02XXX) Anything else and it will cost you. I only ever use £10 of my flext £40 allowance but always end up with an extar £10 worth of calls on the bill

Completely different where I live coverage is as follows, best to worst: T-Mobile, Orange, o2, Three, Vodafone. Vodafone have terrible coverage where I live, they have a vodafone store but you can barely get coverage.

I have had Vodafone and T-Mobile.

Coverage wise I thought Vodafone was much better, but customer service wise T-Mobile beats Vodafone hands down.

Im on flex 20, I think, I pay £20 per month and get £60 credit on my phone, T-Mobile is pretty good, But as mentioned above, coverage is sometimes awful, My contract is now up with T-Mobile and i'm going back to '3' plain and simply because of coverage.... But apart from that they are no better or worse than any of the others,,Oh yes and T-Mobile customer services are very good i have found...

Just checked and it's 10p a text and 36p per picture message so I wasn't too far off.

I would always have sworn by Vodafone reception wise, until this year.

Both apartments i have lived in this year, one in Sheffield City Centre, had absolutely no Vodafone reception at all. I called Vodafone up and they had no plans to upgrade the reception so lowered my tariff onto the lowest available, pretty good considering I had been in contract for 3 months!

After these bad experiences with Vodafone, I have moved to T-mobile and would never go back.

T-mobile may not have the best reception, but I don't seem to have a problem with them at all.

Also, if you have a 3G T-mobile phone you will soon be able to roam on 3, and vice-versa, due to their network sharing agreement which is moving at a much faster pace than Orange and Vodafone's, as far as I'm aware.

Before the agreed share goes ahead Orange actually has the largest number of 3G Cells for a 2.5G & 3G Combined Network, or so I am led to believe anyway.
