Nokia 6300 - Preparing a new micro SD card?
Hey all.
I just got a 1GB MicroSD card for my 6300, but when I try to open it, none of the folders that were on the supplied 256MB card are there now ![]() Do I have to prepare the card some how? I tried to copy the folders & files into a temp folder onto my PC, but it won't let me access them to copy them. Am I missing something here? Some of the themes etc that were on the old card are no longer there. How can I set up the card so it's like the one that came with the phone ![]() Thanks for any help

The folders that are on the old card will not be on the new card because the new card is completely blank. The folders are stored to the card - this is why they are no longer there - they are on the old card.
Any tones, images or themes that came with the phone and were on the old card may be protected and cannot be moved to any other storage device. When you plug your phone into your PC, you should see a whole group of folders. Just highlight them all and drag them onto your desktop. All files should be transferred (it might not transfer the protected themes etc). You then need to plug the phone into the PC with the new card inserted and just drag all the folders onto that new card. |

you could take your new card and insert it into the phone and then format the card using the phone software, this will create the basic file system.
Or connect your phone using USB (data transfer mode) and simply copy all the folders/files to your pc, then insert the new card and connect via usb again, and copy from your pc to the new card. Only thing I can see that you may have done wrong is to use PC Suite mode to try and copy, this will not work for all the files. |

It won't let me copy the files though. I put the card into my card reader, it sees the folders but reports it can't copy spanned files.
I've lost the games that came with the phone as well ![]() Doesn't really matter I guess. Thanks for your help anyway
