SE K510 corrupting stored text messages
I've had this phone for a few months now. As far as I know it's still in warranty but strange things are happening!
Stored text messages in my inbox will be fine for about a week then suddenly two messages will be merged together so that neither of them make sense when you read them again. Very annoying if you want to save some messages as a reminder or proof of what you've received. Tonight I received 3 messages from the same person. All were fine when I received them. When I look at them again now, the 1st message is repeated so that the second message is missing altogether. So I now have message 1 twice and message 3. The same thing happens in my sent box. Messages are sometimes shown as being sent twice and others not at all, then the missing ones will appear a day or so later. I've reported this to Virginmobile and they've told me to turn the phone off and on again and the messages will reset. Surprise, surprise it still happens. What I would like to know before ringing them back is whether this is a network or phone problem (presumably) and if so is it memory or software problem? I have very little stored on the phone. About 70 contacts and 2 mp3s, along with about 8 photos. Thanks for your help. |

There is no way the network can affect a SMS message stored on your phone. So there is definitely an issue with your phone. It is possible that the outgoing message problem is network related, but given the storage problem it is problem a phone problem.
This is either a firmware problem or a variation on the notorious SonyEricsson memory corruption. Either way, you can often cure the problem by doing a Master Reset and by upgrading to the latest firmware. If it was me I would try this, if the problem should return I would arrange a replacement or warranty repair. |

Its best to do a backup first of all. To be safe.
