Series link problem.
Don Wearmouth
03-02-2008
I have Casualty set to record on series link.
Last night I had nothing else set to record at the same time.

On the EPG I saw another programme at that time I wanted to record - when I pressed Ok to set it I got a message saying this conflicted with other programmes I had set to record and it showed be Casualty set twice at identical times - wouldnt let me delete one of them.

I had a similar problem with another programme last week.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance.

I have seen this a couple of times. I have always been able to delete the phantom recording via the EPG. How did you try to do delete and what happened?

When I tried to cancel the reservation on the EPG it simply said did I want to cancel just that programme or all the series. Cancelling the programme took both off the series link schedule.

OK I have seen it behave like that and I have also seen it remove a single entry. In either case you can now schedule the other recording and if necessary reschedule the phantom conflict. Clearly this isn't quite right but it can be worked around. Or do you have other problems?

I havent had this problem as the OP, but did notice that after Casualty last night my schedule didnt link up with next weeks and this afternoon it has dissapeared from my schedules list so have had to reset it.

No other problems that I can think of apart from watching a film for one and a half hours the other evening we had recorded and it missed recording the end of the film!

Casualty recorded for just 1 min then stopped on ours.
Schedule stuck on old date and not moved despite it being in the EPG for next week.
Dancing on ice failed too today and the scheduled recording disappeared totally.... starting to look a bit iffy this new firmware.

Till now been quite happy but its now becoming a guessing game what will work and what won't.

My Casualty failed to record completely last night.

Recorded ITV3 before and Five after with no problems (both with manual padding).
Casualty set with SL and AR - no overlaps involved.

Any thoughts anyone?

I had exactly the same problem as the OP. Don't know if it helps but the situation arose after I had switched off and on because of a lock up. It was as if the machine rechecked my series links and added them again as the EPG repopulated.

I deleted all the reservations and started again. Seemed to work.

Its the second time it has happened with Casualty and Series Link going funny for us. We are changing it to a manual weekly record.... perhaps there is something odd in the metadata for this one programme?

Which is a shame as Casualty is a programme which is rarely on at the same time from one week to the next.

Bizarrely, CSI New York on Five always starts as Casualty finishes - and I thought the scheduling was secret!

Casualty and Top Gear this week both worked AR/SL for me (although I may have reprogrammed them since last week - not sure now).
They both had two entries in the list, one was listed as one minute and was from the scheduled time up to the programme start, the other was the programme correctly recorded.

We also had this problem with series link / Casualty. A few minutes before the scheduled start we were trying to set a recording for later in the evening that would have overlapped the end of Casualty. The on-screen message, saying something to the effect of only being able to have two reservations at once, showed two identical entries for Casualty. I checked both tuners were active by using PIP.

One recording, though, was just the 75 second trailer before Casualty. Next week's episode was not set up either. Possibly a metadata problem as already suggested.

I had exactly the same happen. 90 second recordings of Casualty and Top Gear and then the full recording of both. With Casualty I had the TV on BBC1 and noticed the start of the trailer and saw the message saying the recording had started. I then noticed the start recording message again as the main program started. When I looked in the recorded programs list sure enough there was a 1 minute recording followed by a 50 minute (or whatever) recording.
It appears the same thing happened for Top Gear.
Both progs were AR and SL and next weeks Casualty is in my scheduled recordings list but not Top Gear as I notice it's not on next Sunday.
All in all, the right things recorded but there is a spurious 90 second initial recording. Very strange - I assumed it was down to the metadata sent by Wenvoe.

interesting - casualty didn't record for me either - clearly a beeb error not my box.

also holby city didn't and neither did ski sunday.

Ski sunday did remain in the schedule list and did record this week though.

I had two series links set:

Harry Hill on Saturday (which keeps moving around, so series link sounded ideal) recorded fine for the first two programmes (which were at different times) but missed last Saturday's and thinks the next one is due in a three weeks.
Numb3rs on ITV3 simply didn't record episode 2, and again thinks the next one now is due on the 28th.

My feeling is that the problem lies with the broadcasters rather than Humax, but it's a pest.

The EPG is only 7/8 days so how can the Hummy schedule a recording for three weeks time and on the 28th.
Are you sure the dates are for the future and not the dates on which your progs last recorded?

Could be = I was too annoyed to check in detail. I have had issues with the Humax wrongly date-stamping actual recordings, which is irritating but not really a problem, so I assumed this was it. It's a pest if we can't rely on series link,

Casualty recorded ok for me but I had the same problem scheduling a recording at the same time.

Solution was to delete the Casualty schedule, schedule the other recording and then re-instate Casualty.

I think the Humax had just got confused and needed a bit of help.
